Just saw some Youtube video about teaching 2 or 3 years old children to read. Apparently, reading helps developing their brain and they will have a big head start in school. Do you think is possible? I'm not so sure about this. I mean, they are too small, they should play and have fun. They learn a lot by playing and this is what happens everywhere in nature. Maybe it is possible, but I don't know if it's ok on the long term or if he gap between them and the others remains significant after a year or two. Ok, now I have something to think about before going to sleep .

They say that kids learn faster when they are younger, so learning to read early might be a good thing. On the other hand, kids need to be active and learn by doing things and experimenting with things... thank you, now I have something to think about!

Kids can do both: learn how to read at a young age does not stop them from playing actively.

@marlina yes, but I was thinking about the pressure they might feel later on. Guess it depends on the approach .

Yeah it isn't good to assigned work to a child in the name of study better making them learn using playing mode. As much as possible, learning things should be place to them in the form of playing.

So I'm right, right? I prefer them to learn through playing, at least for a while. It's ok to teach them how to read, write and other stuff, but it shouldn't start too soon. Let them be what they are, children .

Personally I disagree also to those parents who seriously teach the babies at age 2 to 3 to read. My point is they're so young or too early for their brains to process complicated things. I do not know if that is clinically permitted.

Exactly! What's the effect for their brains? And I also saw some children that seemed to read, but what they did was to memorise the shapes of the letters and words. That's actually the problem, is it ok for them to memorise thousands of shapes like that? It seems that there are some different says, phonetics and others, I'll look for more info .

My nephew is two years old and he can say his alphabet already. The kid is smart as a whip. He loves having books read to him. I wouldn't be surprised with his love of books, that he isn't reading by the time he starts Kindergarten. I don't see it as something bad, but powerful in a child's life.

I think so too, but I still have some doubts that I want to clear first. I need some more information, but I must admit I like this idea, children capable of reading at a very young age . And congrats for your nephew

Yeah... Children's easily grasp new things. But as day go on they diverted by many indoor games. Also in competitive world children's are forced to read at early age.because other childrens age should be equal to their child.Only education system should change such situations...

Yeah, they are like a sponge, they assimilate all kind of information they come in contact with. And I'm sure there are some very effective ways to teach them how to read at a young age. Dunno what to say about the education system, there are many different systems, but I think most of them are obsolete now. The future needs different ways of teaching .

@Kasjnak That is very true and I can say that everywhere kids will emulate adults. Playing is good no matter the age

In nature, the young animals learn through playing. And from example, their parents show them how to hunt or hide, how to find food and many other things. But playing has a key role. The same goes for us, but there are some differences indeed. We also need skills that aren't available to animals and reading is one of those skills .

It is nice, I just have some doubts regarding the stress for such a young brain.

Well, my son is learning the letters with only 2 years! He'll be learning soon! Hahaha... Children right now are smarter than us when we were young!
