Some people or maybe many people find themselves in financial problem have to go the banks get loans. This happened to my neighbor who had a traffic accident and he needed a lot of money to pay for medical treatment.
What is your take on this matter?

It is not usually easy to get loans in bank when you have an emergency. For me if it is medical related then it can only be charged to my medical card + government health insurance. additional expenses on top of what my insurance can cover will be on my bill already and well it will eat up my salary, i guess.
If it is other emergency expenses, I think i will have to ask help from my brothers; and if it does not work, i will get a loan from our cooperative at work. our employee association allows emergency loans too so i think this is my best option. =)

@yanzalong Yes, the cooperative gives out good rates for loans and it sure is better than banks.

I will probably ask help from family first if things happened like this.

It would depend on what it is considered a lot of money. Depending on the amount, I would probably start by asking help from part of my family if I am able to pay them later. My health insurance will also help me with part of the bills.

I think medical insurance is very important, Filipinos have Phil Health and I have a card. Our city also issues a green card for residents who are valid voters which can be used in hospitals. Personal savings I think is also very important for emergencies.

@yanzalong to be out of job is a problem, good thing the banks loaned them, they do not have a stable income, health issues and repaying the loan plus interest will add more head aches, I'm so sorry for them.

I have medical insurance and I save as much as I can for emergency purposes so that I don't need to borrow money from people or from lending company

For a person to ask money in bank a very important thing should be considered, that are the high interest.
I think you have other options of getting money, like for example with family or friends even with the internet.

You are right. When there are no other choices, banks are places to go to for help.

That is why people have car and accident insurance. Did his insurance not cover it?
