Don't Screw Yourself

Sometimes in life you receive a piece of advice that just, for whatever reason, resonates and sticks with you for life. Years ago there was a piece of advice I received from a co-worker that was exactly like that. Don't screw yourself trying to screw somebody else. I have replaced the actual words for the sake of MyLot guidelines. But the advice is definitely good advice. We all, from time to time, run into someone who, for whatever reason, makes our life at work difficult. The thing is, it is best to simply concentrate on ourselves, and our own pursuits and goals, let the person who makes our life difficult seal their own fate, and not waste our energy on making THEIR life difficult, or trying to work to make them quit or get fired. There are times when such efforts can backfire, and what happens in the end is you get screwed rather than the other guy.

Good advice. Keep your head down and your mouth shut.

It is like chasing someone where the chaser also has to struggle to do that. Chasing is not done sitting

Very true. The more energy you spend trying to get someone else, the less energy you have for your own success.

I live by revenge is mine says the Lord. We are supposed to love others so I let God deal with the difficult ones. I know He's up to the challenge. =)

That is probably a good approach to it.

That's true. It never works to take vengeance on someone for what they're doing to you.

Very true. I have always said, just focus on what I can do and let others seal their own fates. It all eventually works out for the right side in the end.

@porwest I usually keep the front door in my classroom open (but locked with a door block) but I do like having the ability to just shut the door, keep everyone else out, and do my job.

That is sound advice. I am happy that I now work for myself and am no longer involved in workplace politics.

It depends upon the kind person one is. There are those that enjoy getting revenge.

Those kind of people always sometimes tend to seal their own fate. Karma has its way of making its rounds.
