I don't understand myself. Maybe it has got something to do with me zodiac sign. I sometimes yearn to live alone. It may seem that I might get bored or lonely. I'm glad I have my family. But there are times I wish to experience living alone.

I also like being alone and just interacting with people once in a while. Am thinking that's part of being an introvert and I find it normal and comfortable.

@yoalldudes ~I prefer living alone, people wise anyway. I'm happy with my dog and cat. Before she passed away, my wife and I were separated for three years. We had been separated on and off through most of our marriage. We loved each other but couldn't live together. She use to worry about me finding someone else. I told her that I prefer being alone. I can engage in conversation on social media and occasionally go out to eat or to the casino with my niece. Other than that, I love being by myself.

Are you a Virgo as well? I'm glad that you are happy. I too just wish to occasionally meet a friend, go out for snack or something. There are many issues though I have to overcome about living alone but I feel that I will learn it and it will be worth it.

Are you an introvert? I am, and that's something I frequently find myself wishing for. Being around people is okay in moderation, but being able to retreat to one's own space and get away from it all is a real blessing sometimes. People are exhausting.

I love what you said. Being with people in moderation and selecting only the people you hang out with, those that lifts you up and make you feel positive. People can be toxic sometimes. For example, the backfighting at the workplace.

@yoalldudes Life's too short to waste time on toxic people. There's nothing wrong with being selective about who you spend your time with, or even with retreating from everyone for a while to regroup when necessary. Office politics are the worst... I'm so glad I don't have to deal with that right now.

There is nothing wrong or strange about that. If it is a yearning go for it! Living in solitude allows us to work on our inner self, discover ourself and be ourself. It will help us discover our strengths and weaknesses. Maybe it is the yearning of your soul to want to "Know Thyself" before bringing someone else permanently into your life.

Rings true to my heart. Thanks for understanding and encouragement. Maybe one day I'll go for it. My need to discover independence in myself could be the reason and yes solitude. I have told my partner about it and he was supportive.

Knowing yourself and being able to make it on your own as an independent adult are great things. It's nice to have a partner or family along for the journey, too, but there's a definite sense of security in knowing that you can get things done on your own if you need to.

It depends on my mood too, a lot of times i wanted to try and see how to live alone, how to be free and just think about myself. But more than my wanting to be independent i worry about my mom and how she would be left alone with my brother who is not very responsible himself.

@yoalldudes thanks mitchelle, i will give it a thought but I do not want to make my mom feel i am leaving her alone. SHe is old and she can be really sensitive and will not understand.

Yes a lot of things might hold us back. But sometimes we must listen to what our heart yearns for. We can always go back home anyway if being alone doesnt make us happy.

The internet provides a limited way of socializing. We can't actually hang out in person unless we agree to meet.

I experienced living alone before in a condo, after my sister-in-law went to Australia to live with her boyfriend. I felt lonely. So, I resigned and went home here in the province where my husband and daughter were.

@yoalldudes I rested and became a plain housewife for almost a year. But after that, I got bored and applied and here I am in my job. I am now 12 years here. I also worked in a bank, which was my first job, for more than 15 years. Then I resigned and decided to get a caregiving course in Manila. That's the time when I also worked there, after the training and trying to look for employers in Canada to no avail.

@hereandthere That's what the personality description in the Horoscope says. Greta Garbo said "I want to be let alone". She is a Virgo. But anyhow it's different from person to person. It's just my idea.

Scrolling through the comment I see that your sign is Virgo, I have a friend who is Virgo and my sister in-law was also Virgo and they both do not like to live alone. I think that it's not something that comes from your sign. Greta Garbo wanted to be left alone because she did not want to show her face getting old.

@yoalldudes She stated very clearly "I never said that I want to live alone, I only said I want to be left alone". This says a lot, she had enough to be annoyed by reporters and paparazzi.

@yoalldudes I think a majority of people think about this. I know I surely do. But I also know I do because I've never experience living alone before and would like to try it. I would also get bored or lonely at times but I would still like to know what it's like to have my very own space with nothing but my own items.

@yoalldudes I guess there's no harm in trying. I mean it would suck if many many years from now, you think back and wish that you at least tried some things. That feeling is horrible so I hope you get to experience anything you desire.

I also think of the friends I'm going to make in another place, having my own pleasant moments. I don't know if it would be nice to have a pet.

The disadvantages about living alone is that I pay all the bills and cook my own food. Why I love it is because no one can tell you what to do and how you do it. The peace and quiet is serene. I can sleep all day during day offs. I can leave and come home anytime. It really depends on you on how disciplined and responsible you are to survive being home alone.

Ah that is heaven lol. What about when something gets broken or you ran out of cooking gas? How do you handle that? I'm scared of cockroaches as well lol.

@yoalldudes I'm really careful enough not to break anything. With the cooking gas, most delivery guys will offer free installation too. The cockroaches are your worst enemy. Lol. I hate it but I can't even kill one. I lived in a all-girls apartment for 5 years before i was able to move in my own home. Just be careful where you live if you would really like to be alone.

Why don't you try it then? I tried living alone and in another country for 6 months. It was liberating. I learned a lot from that since I was never away from home for that far without my family or without the maids doing everything for me. But I don't wish to do it anymore. It's enough that I've experienced it once.

I have been married for 36 years and love every minute of it. I also lived alone for 10 years. I don't mind living alone. I am an empath and being around a lot of people is very trying and can sometimes be overwhelming. I like spending time with family and friends, but at the end of the day when all is said and done I prefer to just be at home with my son and husband. When I lived alone I didn't mind visitors, but I didn't want them around all the time. I don't think it has anything to do with the zodiac because I am a cancer.

My partner is a Cancer and a trait of that sign is they are loving and devoted partners which I believe is true in the case of my partner. From your description it seems like you as well has that quality. But of course it could be just coincidence. Still I find it fun. Thank you for sharing.
