I believe that God does protect children and fools. I was both one day as a twelve year old. My parents had gone out when I heard a commotion in the neighbor's apartment downstairs. I had heard it before and knew that Mr Gordon and his wife were having a fight. The next thing I remember is that I was in their bedroom pulling Mr Gordon off his wife. She was on the bed and he was on top of her, hitting her. Now both Mr. Gordon and his wife were quite large people but this little girl went into superhero mode. There was no fear, I just kept trying to pull him off of her while saying, “please Mr. Gordon, get off of her, stop” It worked! But it was Mrs. Gordon who was mad at me. She yelled at me to get out, to go back home and I did. When my parents found out what I had done they were so mad at me for interfering and gave me a good lecture about the danger I could have been in and to stay out of other peoples' business. For years after I never thought I was even in danger and I felt a sense of pride that my intervention had stopped the attack. Of course the Gordons complained to my parents about my behavior and they never spoke to us again. I never heard anymore fights after the incident and we moved shortly after that. Have you ever done something impulsive that could have put you in danger? Have you ever intervened in a fight?

That was risky. No, I can't say I've ever done anything like that.

Risky indeed but my childish mind didn't see the possible danger.

I'm glad you were okay and not hurt. My sister has, but I have not. My sister stopped a teacher who was sexually assaulting her friend.

@Freelanzer Yes it was. She got in trouble also when she got home-since part of her rescue mission was filled with bad language.

That is a very brave thing your sister did. I am more cautious as an adult but I will always say or do something if I see someone being hurt.

It was brave of you to do that. Fortunately, there is no danger to you.

Thank you. Yes I was fortunate as he could have turned on me.

i guess the adrenaline rush in you made you go to the house and tried to separate the couple from hitting each other. i also think that was a nice gesture for you but the danger of being manhandled by the husband can happen.

I do think that is what it was. I just wanted to stop it and didn't think of the possible consequences.

I didn't intervene in a fight. But when I was a kid I had some fights with children who bullied me. Not really fights, but it was almost physical violence.

Hey! I can related to it. When I was a child, I heard a police officer beating up small puppies in my society. I couldn't take it, the cries of puppies. It filled me with rage and anger. I decided to intervene. I ran and stood between the police officer and the puppies. The officer was beating the puppies with a stick. I grabbed all the puppies and walked away. Meanwhile the officer started shouting at me. Thereafter my mother scolded me that I shouldn't be this emotional. What if the officer hit me with the stick? However I was happy and content that I saved the life of puppies. What you did that day is an example of bravery and courage. I think only children are capable of such bravery, without worrying about the consequences.

True and your story is similar to mine. Children don't really think of the consequences, they just try to help. What an awful policeman.

Wow!, I must say that was very brave of you. At least the attack was stopped, but I am sure both Gordons were relieved when you and family moved so they could continue their fights.
