Some people just irk me. I saw someone yesterday who was parked in a handicap parking spot who was clearly not handicapped. They even left their cart. Some people just need a good whack in the kisser if you know what I mean. Rude and lazy all in one. What is the world coming to?

I park in them all the time and there is nothing wrong with me. However, Tony does have a back back and has had a card for years, he did not look sick. When he came down with lung cancer he only looked sick for around 8 months, he does not look sick now. BUT he cannot walk far before he just can`t breathe. People may see me get out of my car parked in a handicap spot and "run" inside the store. I am sure that pisses people off but I was running to get my father a wheelchair because he cannot walk at all. BUT I always had a place card for them. When I was alone I never parked in those spots. I always get mad when I see a 500 pound person in the electric carts and old sick people can`t find one to use. But once again, I cant judge, something is handicap about that person or they would not do that to themselves. You cannot judge a book by the cover, know the story before you judge is how I have to look at things.

@sharon6345 All I know is that if someone is handicapped, a doctor can make that determination, and they can apply for a placard. This person could have hop scotched in and around the store, believe me.

@sharon6345 That's very true too. If someone knows someone in the right places, they can get them. That and disability payments, but that's for another day. People who abuse it however they decide to do it irk me. It just takes away from people who truly do need this stuff.

@sharon6345 I personally think the fine for parking in a handicapped spot should be $5,000 minimum. Why so much? Because people really do need those spaces and when people rudely park in them and essentially leave truly handicapped people somewhat stranded, it just goes beyond the pale for me.

well Jim there is a story to this. Many years ago my lovely niece was parked in a handicap zone.I said you cannot park there. Oh yes.I have a very bad heart. She was right.A couple of years I lost her. Many have handicap in a different way.Not saying this person. I have learned a lot on this.Try not to be too harsh.

But of course if she had a bad heart a doctor probably knew about it? If you do not have a handicap placard or designation you should not park in the spot, period. Sorry about your loss. Truly.

It just goes beyond rude and lazy in my view. I really wonder about people like that. They obviously think the world revolves around them.

@compslick Idiots and goofy are both fitting terms. But lazy and rude still stand out strongest for me.

@sharon6345 When I said "clearly not handicapped," I was referring to not just their physical situation, but the lack of a placard or license plate denoting the same.

@compslick Well, to be fair, most people are handicapped through no fault of their own.

It happens everywhere and it is frustrating. You cannot see people who have chronic fatigue or a bum knee, but those are handicapped. The last adult disabled facility I worked for did not want the clients using handicapped spaces. He said that was the reason that they had support people with them, to push them in wheel chairs, get them carts, etc. You know, those handicapped clients were more polite than the guy you describe and they never would have thought to leave their carts etc. in the lot.

It is one thing if you at least have a placard or a handicap thingy on your plate. This guy was just an inconsiderate jerk.

Well, I was a care giver for a few years. One particular lady I cared for had a lung condition. She refused to bring her 02 when we were out running errands. I used her handicap marking sticker all the time so she was close to the door. Why not drop her at the door then go park? Because she wanted to walk into the store herself. Had to use a store scooter after that, but she wanted to walk in. Pride? Doing something on their own? Who knows, but for her own quality of life, I did as she needed. I think it was a mental kudos to her.

I have a handicapped placard on my truck because of my arthritis. Before my hip replacement, I sorely needed it, too. You could tell when you saw me using my cane. Now I am cane free but still occasionally park in the handicapped spot. Someone seeing me may think I'm not entitled to park there since I don't show any outward signs, but there are still days I need those close spots after a long day on my feet working.

Most states require a doctor to authorize, on penalty of perjury, a legitimate medical excuse for a handicapped parking decal/license plate. I don't think a doctor is going to risk his/her career so someone can park close to the Meijer entrance.

People are neat, as I often like to say. Even people who use someone else's placard JUST to snag a spot up front irk me when there are people who really need these spots.

Even people who use someone else's placard, which happens, to get a spot up front irks me. If you are fine to walk, walk, and leave the designated spaces for those who really need them.

In a way, I feel glad...I mean, I realize, we Indians are not alone in this rule breaking game. I was constantly condemning Indians for it..ok...serious...there may be some camera taking pictures. Surely they can be made to pay more penalties, which can be used for cleaning restrooms.

I've learned not to judge someone's ability or disability by appearances. My nieces car has been spit on and she's had several Nast messages left under her windshield. She looks healthy....tries to stay active, but has some serious physical limitations. I'm irked by those who clearly can't read...No Parking......should be self explanatory. It applies to everyone except emergency vehicles. Yet I've been told when I pointed it out...I'm only running in for a minute...I'm nit parked. Face palm!
