When was the last time your significant other surprised you with flowers? It could be an ordinary day - not Valentine, birthday or other anniversaries. I should also ask if the giving of flowers is still popular - except on those mentioned dates - like anniversaries etc. I think it is more popular in some cultures (I have received very few in my life time) Men - do you like surprising your special someone with flowers or do you consider it a bit old fashioned?

My husband never buy me flowers. He surprises me inviting me out for dinner, he know that I like this more than a bouquet of flowers.

@Kandae11 I do not like cut flowers, I am sad to see them die in a very short time.

The flowers are nice - but dinner would be more practical I think.

I told my wife that we just plant flowers, it's longer lasting, does not wilt and we can pick it together anytime whole year round that's how practical and and unromamtic I am lol but she loves my idea so we have a couple of flowers in our garden that we both take care of., the surprise part is a new potted specie.to add to the collection from time to time.

With a garden of flowers already at hand I would instead appreciate a surprise gift of chocolates or perfume.

Those were the days when I expected red roses all the time - bad influence of reading too much Mills and Boon. My husband believed in surprising me such as washing the dishes in the kitchen when the maid did not turn up

I was hooked on Mills and Boon. I remember having to get rid of dozens and dozens of them. I am sure that was a welcome surprise from your husband.

i received a bouquet of red roses from the father of my son in Kuwait. to my enthusiasm, i placed the flowers in a makeshift plastic bottle and put a tablet of aspirin to keep it fresh. the next day, the flowers withered. that is the disadvantage of having 'hot' hands.

@Kandae11 ahaha. no, he bought the bouquet from a flower shop there. he visited me in my flat. i placed the roses in a bottle, hoped it won't wither, but it did. .........just like our relationship.... it withered.
@Kandae11 (54997)

Did he send them from Kuwait? I am wondering why they withered so quickly - or perhaps they were allergic to aspirin

My husband hasn't surprised me with flowers in a long time. That would be nice at least once or twice a month just because.

He sent me flowers which he ordered online. I was still in the Philippines and he was here in America. Now, that my daughter and I have been with him for 6 years now, only once that he had flowers delivered lastg year, my birthday. I wish if men will not be consistent from start to finish they better not even start at all.

That was lovely - in the beginning. Yes it would have been nice if he continued at least once every year. However it would be fine with me if he shows his love in other ways - it doesn't have to be flowers.

My hubby gave me flowers on our wedding anniversary last January. I expected for some during valentine's day and mother's day but no flowers came from him much to my disappointment. I love flowers and I really wish he would give me some during special days.

When we were first married I told my husband we couldn't afford such things. Years later I told him we were doing better now but I think that maybe all those years of refraining caused him to forget how, lol. I would be happier if he helped with some cleaning periodically.

You started off thinking practical - now its too late. At least you know it could have happened in the beginning. Yes cleaning isn't very romantic, but it would be nice if he helped.
