My cancer is back, again!

Feels like an announcement for something all would want to hear!
Ha! Ha! Ha!
Well, it's what my Nuclear Meds Doc said (& so with my Endocrinologist), after I had again a Thyroglobulin blood test. Got greater than 250 from normal levels (highest is 70).
Had a Whole body scan again. Nothing much to worry because there are no metastases seen in other parts of my body. A great blessing indeed!
But, as I needed to have another Radioactive Iodine Ablation treatment last July 21 to 24, I am still having its usual side effects. Can't taste much of any food yet (I think my tongue is dead). I forget a lot (persons' names, places, time, reasons, etc.). Feel sad most of the time (for no reason at all). Lost interest in any thing (don't like watching tv or listening to music or walking).
But my dearly beloved takes care of me selflessly (it's ok with him if I am so quiet, he just stays near, as he arrives from office). Our kids keep in touch. They call (even if I just stare at the camera & smile). I get to see videos of my granddaughters. They make me laugh!
I am happy!
I thank God I am still alive.

i was wondering about you recently. i'm glad to see you again, though the news is sad, but as you say, at least it's confined to your thyroid. (did i read that right?) i hope the side effects eventually wear off. salute to your devoted dearly beloved. how old are you granddaughters now?

@hereandthere No po. But I had a lengthy talk with my Nuclear Meds Doc at the UST. So this recommendation of his for me to undergo another radioactive iodine ablation treatment. The cost has skyrocketted. And its side effects seemed to have been "more felt" this time. Maybe because its my 5th already in a span of 17 years. And I am now 61. Guess, too old for a difficult disease.

@KnehKnah a doctor here said thyroid cancer is the slowest growing cancer and this could even be treated. we had 2 nurses in a hospital here who were operated on removing the cancer. they then received chemotherapy, and up till now, they are still working in that hospital.

Those who suffer with this illness and are blessed with loving caring families, usually have a better chance of beating it than those without attentive family members. I understand that you won't feel like doing much, but try to think positive and stay strong . All the best.
