Sharing a song from YouTube that I wrote. Is this too "profound" for the blues?

Several months ago, I wrote and recorded a "blues" about Mark Twain, my favorite author, and his relationship with his daughter, Susy, who died of spinal meningitis at age 24.
It occurred to me that Twain and his daughter would have been "into the blues," had it existed in their time, so that's what I went with.
Later, a friend and band-mate recorded the same song with a more dreamy melody. I like her version too, but most people prefer my blues version.
I'm going to attach my version, and ask whether you like it. At a certain point, I'll attach my friend's version in a comment, and ask whether you like her version.
Is "intellectual" blues to weird for the current listener?

I have heard both versions. May I opine. I think your version is better from men's point of view, and the tune she has come up can be more of a feminine version. That said, she scores 10 percent as far as singing is concerned and the reason is her voice has shake or quiver...which does not go down well with me AT ALL. I gave her singing 10 percent because there is a part that she did sing well. Otherwise, she would get zero.

@TheHorse In our music, vibrato is not well received. It sort of indicates lack of adequate practice. We have lots of twists and turns, but they need to be achieved without that huskiness sound of breath and shakiness kinda bang on the note. The idea is those complex notes should be repeated exactly as they were. Cultural thing. :) She has used too much of that emotional part which will vary from every time she renders the song.

@thislittlepennyearns I am glad that you survived it. What did the trick? Antibiotics?

Nice song, but it's not the blues.

@BarBaraPrz Ah. But I thought the style I did it in was blues. I was doing blues chords rather than folk chords.

Hi. I really enjoyed the song. I think it does sound bluesy! The images in the video are wonderful, too. The black and white lends the right "feel" to the song. and I love how you mixed old Mark Twain and family pics, with current pics of yourself and others.
