The invasion

This morning I went in the kitchen and my counter top was covered with sugar ants!
I had cooked a cake of cornbread last night and made the mistake of leaving what I didn't eat in pan laying on the counter. There was so many ants that the whole top of the cornbread was dark. It looked like I had poured black pepper on top of the cornbread. I did get rid of them though, I sprayed them, then flushed them down the sink.
It has been years since I have had any ants come in my house, the last time I had this happen, it was fire ants, I woke up with something biting me and fire ants gotten in my bed. They were also real bad in the closet, I quit using the fabric softener that I was using at the time and hadn't had a problem with fire ants or any other ant since then. Until today!
Have you ever had ants take over your kitchen?

Thankfully no. Cinnamon gets rid of them good. The smell of it repels them.

Thank you for telling me this, how do you use it? Do you just put it in a container and sit it on the counter?

@sweetashoney Just spinkle it along the back edge of your cupboards and countertops. You dont need to use much.

@Sweetashoney ~Wow. Ants are annoying. While ants can to damage to the house, gire ants are much worse when they bite. I didn't even think about the ants being attracted to fabric softener, but it does smell sweet.

I hadn't ether until then, the reason I figured it had to be that is because of the closet issue. I had a dresser in the closet and had some pants laying on top of it and the ants were covering them. Since I used fabric softener on both my pants a sheets, that's why I think they were attracted to that.

Oh yes, I even had fire ants in my kitchen cabinets when I lived in one house years ago. I opened the cabinet to get a box of oatmeal out and they were even in it.
