Weird food combinations..

Just got back from a quick snack and I came across a weird food combination by one of my colleagues. I knew he was eating turnips (I don't know where he got it though. It still isn't in season here in my place) and dipping it into soy sauce. I had to confirm if it was soy sauce, and behold, it is. Turnips + soy sauce. I tried it and I guess it does work together.
Weird food combinations are unlikely pairings of food that surprisingly works together. The one I personally had was a coffee ice cream paired with crispy bacon. It is weird but it works. Or maybe it is just that 'everything works well with bacon' thing?
Your take on this? Have your own weird food combos?

I suddenly remembered trying the Chocolate Chicken Wings at Frankies last year. My stomach didn't like it for some reason. I think chicken and chocolate doesn't go well together? I think Gordon Ramsey hated it. lol. Thanks for sharing!

@sol_cee There's truth to that! I rarely see him actually like food prepared by other people!

I personally don't see turnips with soy sauce as being too unusual. In Mexico, turnips are popular.

@blindedfox I often use soy sauce instead of salt on a lot of things.

My weird combo hmmmm. I think people who saw me eating arroz cabana (ground beef) with catsup is weird.

I see. Although that seems to be perfectly normal from around here. It's the savory food with sticky rice right? Similar to arroz valenciana?

@blindedfox Valenciana is my favorite..in Kapampangan it is beringhe. I should say arroz ala cubana (giniling in local dialect) - I am referring to this not the sticky rice dish

@jobelbojel I see. We usually have ground pork as giniling here in Nueva Ecija. Ground beef for giniling is quite new for me. I should go ask the wife to cook some!

That is a weird combo. I like dipping it on plain salt.
