Good evening. As I am signing off for the night.
A little discussion here.
While dining out and having a nice meal.
does anyone here had a bad meal.if you did how do you deal with it.
I had a terrible one a week ago at a Chinese place here.
The meal was egg foo young and it was so horrible I could not eat it.
Wanted to send it back. But knowing Mike he said don't.
Then they ask me if I wanted to take it home.No.
The photo is an early one. They year 2007 in Guatemala
You see I have not change much
While I was a seafood place had fried clams.
got the clams and this time I send it back.I wanted whole belly clam not the strip.
They took it back.Gave me what I wanted and it was free on the house.
so the question here if you had a bad meal would you send it back?

I wouldn't send a food order back unless it was under/over cooked and dangerous to eat.
My husband usually shares his plate with me if I get a bad meal because he doesn't like to create a scene by complaining. And then besides that, you will be eating later then the rest of the people at your table. I would just chalk it up to experience and not return.
Your picture is so nice, no, you have not changed much at all in the past 11 years. Such rich and beautiful colours in that garden.
Have a nice evening.

I've only done it twice. Once was a steak I ordered medium rare and it arrived on the hoof. Another was salmon that was unrecognizable, I ordered chicken instead. I don't like to do it.

Yes. If I paid for a meal I wanted and didn't receive, I would ask for them to correct it. I have done this with a steak that was still bleeding (I eat well done) and once a grilled patty melt that didn't have the onions and was put on rye when I asked for sour dough.

If it was so bad that I couldn't eat it, yes I would send it back. Otherwise, it's money wasted.

I usually just point out what I don't like about what they gave me,,and they fix it. I haven't ever asked for a whole new meal.

@amadeo One food I really do not like to order out anymore is steak because I can tell them to cook it well done and many times they will serve it medium which I do not like. I have sent it back when they serve it that way and tell them to cook it longer.

@LeaPea2417 I have found that when I asked for the steak to be cooked longer they did it no problem. I think they don't want to overdo it so they do not cook it to long. It is easier to for them to cook a little more at a time but if they overdo it then it will be to well done. I do not like anything with a pink inside. My husband has his steaks like I can still hear them mooing.

I've only had to send a meal back once in all the years we've been dining out, and that was a lobster from an otherwise wonderful and well respected pricey restaurant. The lobster didn't smell right to me, and my husband agreed. So did the manager. My new lobster was perfect and on the house, as was dessert for the two of us.
You do look great in the photo, but then again, you always do. Are you fishing for compliments???

I have had my shares of like ordering something and was disappointed. i was more like ok fine i did not order the right one, i sure would not come back to this restaurant again. there is an extreme case where we ordered a take out from Burger King and then when we opened the bag, there was a cockroach on the fries! we turned around the car and returned it back, they said they will replace it... we simply declined and got our money back, and returned the take out bags to them untouched.

Depends on the amount of the meal, if it is cheap and I would waste time, then i will just let go, unless I am not leaving the restaurant yet.
But if it is expensive, well I think I have to take my money's worth.

@amadeo I will get my money's worth, tell them. so they will also learn from their mistakes and make sure that they will serve the best to their customers.

I have once sent a dish back as it smelled and felt stale for me. They were courteous enough to apologise and exchange it for other dish.
