hello everyone.Well we stop at an apple orchard. They are not ready
But did visit some of the animals that they had there
Can you be good without God?
I am good .Does God have something to do with this?
Photo is mine. One of the oldest barn around here.
I love the patina on the colors there.

@moonandstars Of course and they are many times very good people. An agnostic, is simply a person who believes that nothing is known of the existence or nature of God.

You pose an interesting question. Some believe that the goodness within us is God dwelling in our hearts whether we acknowledge it or not. Without God, how does one decide what being good means? Without God, then each is free to do what they want, to whom they can, as long as they can get away with it, and there is no basis to say what they've done isn't good if the person doing it finds it good. Goodness becomes very subjective and personal without the basis provided by the existence of a God to give us guidance on what good means.

Too bad about the apples not being ready. What animals did you get to see? I love to hobnob with animals.
As for your question, yes you can be good without God. I've known atheists in my time who put some supposedly religious people to shame.

I wonder if God is good because of you....Well, aside from all the evil pain and suffering He's created.

@1creekgirl Yeah...But God knew that was going to happen before He even created anything because omniscience is knowledge of all things forward and backward---So, knowing that and doing it anyway, couldn't you say that He did really create evil, pain and suffering? Yes, you could. Another thing you could say is that He likes and wants the evil, pain and suffering. Otherwise, He never would have allowed any of them to happen. Sorry, but blaming mankind is a very large copout and it's full of holes.

God didn't create "evil, pain and suffering." Mankind did when we rebelled against God.

Everyone can be "good" using our definition of the word. We can be good without God in our lives at all. But we can never be "good enough" to enter a holy heaven without God's forgiveness through faith in his son, Jesus Christ.

What a beautiful and typically New England looking barn! We went to an orchard last week with the kids. The orchard we went to had delicious early apples all ready for picking, and the ones we loved were Zester. I believe that people can be good without G-d.

@amadeo There are truly so many different apple varieties. I never heard of Zester until we went to this orchard. Our son goes to one in New York that sells his favorite. I forgot the name, but it's not grown here and only available for a two week period.

I believe that God has given us the goodness that is in us. In Galatians the Bible talks about certain things that are true, even for the Gentiles or unbelievers, that are things God puts in the hearts of all people.

Yes, one can be a "good" person without God but he can't be a good believer or a "good" person in the eyes of God because he might do something that is approved by some humans but God might not approve it.

@db20747 True, we have become really good at making what is right into wrong and what is wrong into right.

Are you asking wither we can be good without God in our lives, or without believing in God? In any case, I think it all depends on the person. Take me for example, I believe in God, but somehow over time I lost my way,as some might say. But I have never stopped being kind to others, helping out those in need when I can.

@amade You ask "can you be good without God?" well look at you for example, I would say what you do is good then. So yes, I believe you can. I might be misunderstanding your question.

What a lovely barn! God knew you Alfredo, even before you were born:) Do you have to be religious and a part of a church to know God? NO! I am not religious, nor do I attend a church any more. Rituals are never a part of God's love! The Lord is patient and kind. He is humble and doesn't throw rocks at anyone, for being imperfect. Noone is perfect, except for God himself! True concern and compassion for other people in need, how we treat others, this is how a person is seen by the Lord. God looks at the heart attitudes, never at our outward appearance or the wonderful goals we've reached in this world! God is pure love and nothing less! Our prayers are personal, to him alone and that's a true relationship with him. If we ask, God will hear our prayers and forgive all our sins. Prayer is the 'key' that opens heaven's gate, to us as God's chosen few! God loves you, Alfredo:)

Beautiful photo. I too, find beauty in patina.
These are just my own thoughts on the subject and I mean no offense to anyone.
I believe in God with all my heart. I do not believe in religions.
I think there are good people and bad people - and people who are good on the inside that somehow do bad things due to circumstance , and I think there are bad people who do good things for the same. Do I think that someone can be a good person without *religion* ? Absolutely. I have known bad people who are religious for example and good people who don't go to church.

I´m not that bad and God has nothing to do with it. And the best man I knew was my husband and he simply did not understand the word God nor cared much about it.

I love the colors in that barn! Yes God gave us free will to be what we want, good or bad. Then we will be judged by God hen we die.

Yes, you can be good without God and you can be bad even with God in your heart. The problem is how we interpret His will
