Do your official forms come in multiple languages?

The photo has nothing to do with the discussion. It’s one of our wildflowers. In Australia, once you get to somewhere around 70, you get a letter from the Australian Government National Bowel Cancer Screening Program, asking if you’d like to participate in a test that detects bowel cancer. I’ve done the test once and now it seems it’s time I did another one. You are sent a pack with precise instructions on what to do so you do what it says and send the pack back to them for testing. However the interesting thing is that, on the back of the letter is a summary of the information in a number of other languages, twenty-two to be precise. I guess these cover most of the languages spoken in our multi-cultural society. In case you are interested the languages are: Arabic, Assyrian, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Croatian, Greek, Hazaragi, Hindi, Italian, Khmer, Korean, Macedonian, Nepalese, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Russian, Serbian, Spanish, Turkish and Vietnamese. Do your official documents come in multiple languages?

Our official documents are only in Spanish. Sometimes in the south of Chile, there are some documents that are also in Mapudungun, the language of the natives.

Does that mean that you don't have a lot of other nationalities or are they all expected to speak Spanish?

Yes they do. And everywhere I go here there are signs up saying translators are available for many of those languages there, but I dont believe it as no one in the offices can even speak their own language lol

Our official documents only come in English. It happens to be our official language. Though old documents like very old land titles are still in Spanish as it used to be our official language. We call them the Spanish title.

All official documents are in the 4 official Swiss languages: German, French, Italian and Romansh. Most of the instruction manuals of the products sold in Europe come in dozens of languages, written in so small characters that you can barely read them.

LOL yes, our instruction manuals are like that. I'm wondering if my new glasses will make a difference. They should be ready for me to pick up soon.

I have been learning all the African countries and the online map I use now calls Swaziland eSwatini. It seems a strange name but looks very 'computerish'.

It depends on what it is. In most cases forms are in English and Spanish..but sometimes there might be more, and it is especially common in urban areas that have more speakers from other languages.

The botanical name is Chamaescilla corymbosa and its common name 'Blue Stars'. There is a blue star wildflower in America too but it is a different genus and species.

We only use the English language. For some government projects, some forms were translated to local people's dialects in respective provinces.

Yes, they do. I don't pay attention to what languages they are, other than the basic, German, French, Italian, and Portuguese. I think Hmong is among them since we have a large Hmong community in the US. I know the page is two-sided with all the languages. I think you have some we don't.

That would be a travesty if we had all the languages spoken in our country on the official documents. India has 122 major languages and 1599 other languages. Imagine that! That is why, we have two official languages for official purposes as a Union except for the state of Tamil Nadu which are English and Hindi. And we have no National language!
