Does Thunder Scare You?

It is a little after midnight and we are having one of the worst rain and thunder storms I have ever heard and I am 76 years old so I have heard a lot of thunder storms in my life.
I am sure my electricity will be going out shortly as it usually does when we get bad storms.
I love thunder storms to sleep in and I can sleep like a baby. There is a bad storm brewing and will probably hit us soon. Hurricane season is near and I hope it isn't as bad as last year.
Are you afraid of thunder or do you enjoy it? Do you live in hurricane areas to?

I like rain but not storms. Stay safe.

The thunder doesn't scare me but the lightning and hurricanes do. I'm too far north to worry about hurricanes as we usually only get the tail end.

@ramapo17 We get long cold winters with snowstorms and ice problems and that's not that great.

@1hopefulman I use to live in the northeast of the USA and we had very cold winters sometimes. I cannot think how cold it must be by you. Did you ever get into skiing?

I like the sound of distant thunder, but not the sound of booming thunder right on top of me. I like the sight of heat lightning in the distance, but not lightning that crashes down on top of me.

@ramapo17 I think we're going to have a quiet hurricane season this year. At least as far as landfalling storms are concerned. Just my hunch.

@moffittjc That would be nice. If we do have a busy year I hope it is in the middle of October as I will be up in New Jersey. My grandson is going home from San Diego before he gets shipped out to the middle east. I don't know when I will see him after that. He is a Navy Seal. Very scary for me.

Looks like we are going to be having some great weather soon with all the storms predicted. It is that time of the year again. We are going to New Jersey in October and I just hope we do not have any bad weather that we have to get of here before that.

Well we do have thunderstorms too. And when I was kid I used to be frightened with it since the noise is just not pleasant to hear and you really do not know where the sound is coming from. But now that I am older it does nto bother me any longer except when the thunderstorms are very near our place where the thunder are louder.

I used to live in an area that had a lot of thunderstorms so they do not alarm me at all. The power going out is no big deal. But now I live in the desert where thunderstorms are very rare. When we do get one it's like a vacation for me because I sleep so soundly it's as if I've had a long, refreshing rest. And the power going out can actually be fatal because of how hot it is here. I would love to have more thunderstorms!!

Where I lived in Pennsylvania we would lose power for a long time and in the winter it was dangerous as it was below zero there. After a few storms we got very organized and ready for all the storms. When we had our RV we would use the generator in that to get heat.

I'm not afraid of thunder but I don't enjoy it either. We don't get hurricanes in this country but we do get typhoons.

@ramapo17 You don't get typhoons there but we do. AS we don't get hurricanes.

No hurricanes, I am too far in. But I too love to hear a thunderstorm rumbling

@Courtlynn we just get use to it. When we lived in north New Jersey and the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania we lost power many times. We were prepared and had candles ready and portable heaters.

Yesterday afternoon, we had a thunder storm ,so I had to walk my granddaughter to school.A ear-splitting sound came just above my head after lightning,I was a bit frightened ,though I knew few people were struck by lightening in city.

I'm not afraid it's it but if it's too loud too long it will keep me awake. Take care during the week season nearing
