Would you leave your country?

And I mean permanently. I used to say that leaving my country is not an option, but lately I have reconsidered this. Things went downhill here and it only seems that we, as a nation, are speeding towards a wall. The power is in very wrong hands and it seems our rulers don't care about anything, all they want is power and money and they would do anything to obtain them. Even if it means to destroy our country. I hate that.
Romania is a beautiful country with very nice people, but I don't know how long this will last if things keep this way. I'm seriously thinking about leaving.

I heard that Romania is a beautiful country. Me? I am now living in a neighboring country of my country. I don't like to go home, I don't like our president. hehe

@Kasjnak Same with me, but I don't like a president who violates women and looks down to women.

@Mavic123456 wait, what? But he should be in jail! He's still president? Not liking someone like that is an understatement, he should never be president.

I'm sorry your government makes you feel that way. As much as I don't care for some our leaders, I'd never leave my country permanently. To me, it's still the greatest nation on earth, and I know our leaders are only temporary cogs in the wheel.

That's true and USA is indeed the greatest country in the world. The thing is, you have many "checks and balances" there, your government can make some mistakes from time to time, but here is a different story. People are getting back to the old ways, they want to be like the old kings. What they say is law and they can do whatever they want. That's where we are going now.

Well it seems like that in mu country as well. Those that are in power are blatantly corrupt and you would feel it as hopeless anymore. But sometimes same goes to the country you are transferring to. So be sure to think twice if the place you’ll be transferring to will be a better choice before you make your final decision.

Not really. Being part of the EU actually helped us a lot. But this also means that we must follow some rules. This is a thing that most of our politicians hate because they want immunity against the law and they are very corrupt. And because of that they want to make some new laws that will transform Romania into a "wild west". That's the problem.

@destry well, yes and no. It's true you give a lot to the EU, but there are some benefits for UK too. The future will tell if it was the right choice or not. Still, I always believed that every country has the right to decide for it's own future.

I know, there are some worse countries in the world. Far worse. But if things keep going this way, I don't know what will happen. Anyway, I'm considering this, I haven't decided yet. There is still hope and I'll wait for a few years. Unless something big happens

No I wouldn't. Even if I move to another country, I would always retire in my homeland.

Yeah, that's understandable. I have to think about it very carefuly, if I don't do that I may end up in a worse situation.

We always had problems, I don't have a... problem with that . But when your government starts telling you that 2+2=3, black is white and that you should shut up because you are stupid and they are smart... I'm scared for my family, is gis country good for them?

So sad for us when we can no longer rely on our leaders to lead the people well. I hope you can choose a better country where you can be free and happy.

I think that situations like these are not only happening in your country. There are just times that we will be experiencing bad situation more likely when economy is not stable and the administration is uncertain. I am not sure leaving our country is the ultimate option. Wouldn't it more difficult to stay in foreign land with cultures that you aren't used to? We will get used perhaps in due time but as much as I could, I want to stay with my country or would go back to my country even if would experience to live in another.

True. But here the economy is not the problem. We are moving fast towards dictatorship and people are getting really angry because of that. Of course, there are those that support hese politicians. Soon we'll reach a point where all it takes is a spark. That's what scares me...
