A typhoon's fury

In Japan, typhoons don’t have names; instead they are number-based. Yesterday, Typhoon No. 21, known internationally as Typhoon Jebi hit Western Japan (where I live). It is said to be the most powerful typhoon to hit the country in 25 years. And the most nerve-wracking typhoon experience for me. Classes were cancelled but I still went to the office. When it made its first landfall, I felt the building shake and the floor to ceiling windows rattle. Eerie noise filled the office as we braced for the impact. Someone turned his radio on his smartphone on but we couldn’t get a signal. Outside the wind was hammering whatever was on its way and different objects were flying everywhere. Transportation was disrupted and I had to walk home for 40 minutes when I couldn’t even get a taxi. By then, the sky was clear already, the sunset, beautiful as if nothing happened. But Typhoon 21 left too many casualties and caused millions of damages to boot. You might have seen the news on TV yourself. Scary, right?
Photo is mine.

So the typhoon must have the strength and fury like Yolanda? Glad to know you arrived home safely even if you just walked your way. (Like what others below are saying, your photo has not been successfully attached.)

@sol_cee Yes, I just recently knew from Miss Millennial Davao del Sur that the place is never visited by typhoons.

Coming from someone living there could be the real news. Tycoons are short lived but they leave behind long term damage.

I didn’t know that Japan don’t name their typhoons. Every time the news updates say a typhoon is headed to Japan, I worry. Because my brother is a seafarer and he’s route is usually Japan, China, or Taiwan. All I can do is pray as we can’t control the weather.

The way you described it, sounds scary. I remember Haiyan when it hits my place.
Good to know that you're okay.

I saw the news a few hours ago and indeed it was scary. According to the news, the wind has reached up to 260 kilometers. Our country is often visited by typhoon the strongest recent one happened a few years ago and kilked so many. Hope everyone there in your country will be safe.

Oh dear- poor you! That sounds really scary and I'm sorry you had to walk in that weather all the way home for 40 minutes. Luckily you were still fairly close to your home.

I am sorry for the casualties. And you are so very brave to stick it out through this largest typhoon so deadly. I had been watching all the force of it the power of it and destruction on videos.
I pray you will stay safe now friend.
Thanks for updating us.
