Tennis, Anyone?

Would you rather watch tennis or play it? Or neither?
I’d rather play it. I took lessons after my second son was born and love it. I play it every chance I get.
My grandson learned how to play tennis in camp this summer. He loved it and will somehow squeeze in tennis lessons between school, religious school, ice hockey (his team’s goalie), and play dates.
In the meantime going to The U.S. Open at Ashe Stadium had to suffice.
Are you into activities?

I played tennis when I was in my 20`s but I have to say not in the last 20 years.
I do, I am very active, I still run often but I don`t play sports as I once did. I still fish and row a boat.

In India though people play tennis and we have some international players too who have achieved good success, the sport is not so popular as Cricket ! So I never given a try to tennis and I recall my brother was playing it when he was in his college! Thanks!

@DianneN - Our community has a tennis complex with a number of courts. I play paddle tennis once in a while, but not regular tennis.

@DianneN - Paddle tennis is played on a court, like regular tennis, but the court is a little smaller. The balls look like tennis balls, but they are not quite as hard. And, of course, you play with a paddle. In our community, you can just walk into the pro shop and ask to use the equipment, then go out on the court and pick up a game with other people. It is especially great for older people who used to play tennis regularly, but now find it harder to run back and forth on a full size court. We have both regular tennis courts and paddle tennis courts in our community.
Our retirement community is pretty incredible ... two golf courses, five pools, tennis courts, an equestrian center with horses owned by the community, riding trails and arenas, seven clubhouses, including one for the largest bridge club in California, a performing arts center, a ball room, hundreds of classes we can take, and constant parties and special events. All that, and we are on the edge of the charming small beach community of Laguna Beach and only four miles from the ocean. My husband and I love living here. I think I may write a post about it.
Laguna Woods Village continues to be the premier Southern California active lifestyle community for people 55 and up. This is where new adventures begin.

@DeborahDiane Thanks for the explanation of paddle tennis. Perhaps when I run out of stamina for tennis, I will play it. Your place sounds wonderful and very similar to the gated communities in Florida. We passed on that, because we wanted to be right on the water. However, we have so many friends that do live in lovely and not as lovely gated communities, so we are invited often. I believe you wrote a post once about where you live.

I actually don't have an ounce of ability or interest, in tennis. Not that I don't like sports, I love to ride a bicycle and walk every day. Yet, competitive games, I'm not one bit athletic. I love to sketch instead! Your grandson is handsome and obviously a wonderful little boy:) Hopefully, he will never stop being excited about learning new things! Here's a photo of our granddaughter who wanted to die, Kaiti thought she was a loser:(

Our older son used to dislike participating in sports, except for swimming. He was great at that and still holds the record at one of his schools for backstroke. Not everyone participates in sports, but at least you get your exercise from walking and riding your bicycle.
Kaiti is so beautiful. I hope she received help and changed her mind about being a loser. That poor girl!!!!

@kobesbuddy I'm so glad that she is doing so well and hope she continues to do so. Girls at that age sometimes think the craziest thoughts.

@DianneN A year ago, she was hospitalized, for about a month. Now, she has therapy every other week and my daughter attends these appointments. Kaitly felt her mother didn't want her, which was a complete lie! She's starting college, at 16 which shocked me. Three days she attends high school, two days at the college. Kaiti is soaring like an eagle!

How very nice that you can play tennis!
I am not into any sports when I was younger and until now. I tried bowling before, but I slide down.
But now that I am older, I learned how to play it and liked it. Though, I have no more time to play it.

I always loved water @DianneN mom told me that I was that kid that would look for water just so I could splash around in it, of course a 2 yrs old that scared the bageezas outta her, I don't remember my 2s or most of my 3s, but I do recall my 4s and I remember wanting to jump in a fountain we passed by, of course by then I know not to make momma mad so I only yearned to jump in.

Is that racket big enough? He won't have any trouble seeing that ball coming his way.
Your grandkids are active in a variety of sports. It doesn't surprise me he would add tennis to his list.
I've tried tennis. No coordination. I hope you enjoyed the U.S. Open.

How nice that your grandson was able to go to the US Open. And a virtually unknown Australian managed to beat Roger Federer. John Millman seemed a much nicer person than that obnoxious Nick Kyrios. He is an embarrassment to most Australians.

No, I am not into sports at all. Used to duck to avoid any ball or mud or giant caterpillas throwing at me by boys who thought that was a good way of courting when we were little kiddies, that now I am an expert in ducking. I never seem to find the time for anything else these days except sleeping...
