"I could write a book!"

Have you ever said that aloud or even to yourself? I have and that book is not yet written. I suspect that there are many other would be authors on this writing site. But there are a few who have actually done the deed. Valerie, recently wrote about signing a contract for her book "Thread of Evidence", that will be published next year. That is a major accomplishment and not her first book either. I have read of other real authors on myLot, but they escape my mind as I write this, so I will ask the question: Have you published a book of any kind yet? Are you actually writing a book for publication?

I could write a book about my relatives, but it would have to be published under fiction.

I've been seriously thinking about trying my hand at writing a book. I want to write for the Christian Mystery niche.

Dw Davis has written a book, and I believe there is one other besides Valerie. I want to write a book, but this would be more family than anything else. Family stories.

Yes, DW has I think. Family stories would be treasured by future generations.

@JamesHxstatic I hope they'd be treasured, but I know the current generations would enjoy them. I've written some of the stories out here in the past, but there are many more I haven't even heard about yet.

I was thrilled to have a company help me self-publish my first book of poems early this year and now I am working on getting material together from my second book of poems. I have written many short horror stories but I do not know if they would interest anyone but I might consider getting them published too after my book of poems. Who knows? Perhaps people will enjoy the stories too.

I'm not a writer, but write books in my head as I fall asleep. Unfortunately, I've never finished writing the story that way. Sleep beckons. LOL! Valerie is a wonderful writer.

I have not. I started one and lost my way somewhere in the middle of the story. I might try to pick up where I left off one day.

Here on myLot,I found that many people had had a few copies of books written by themselves under their belts, when I went to their profiles. It is too much for me to write a book.

I have never published a book and it's not in my mind to even think to publish one in the future. My mother-in-law published a book years ago, it was a book for children, she spent more money in the whole process than what she cashed in.

@JamesHxstatic She spent a lot to publish the book and it was in Italian only. The market was not big enough to cover what she spent. It is a shame it was a good book, I wonder if I should translate it and distribute through Amazon.

@JamesHxstatic - Yes, I have written books ... six to be exact. I earn money from them on Amazon, and the best part is that it did not cost me a dime to publish them using Kindle Direct Publishing and CreateSpace (both owned by Amazon). My most popular one is "Your Guide to a Fabulous Las Vegas Wedding," which I wrote after one of my daughters, my sister, and my niece all had weddings in Las Vegas within a few years of each other. I figured I should write a book." Here's a link to it: https://amzn.to/2xIegVd I have also written a children's story, a novel for elementary age children, a book on saving money on weddings, a list of the words of Jesus written as Tweets ("What Would Jesus Tweet?), and a book on common lies we tell young people. I am also working on a retirement book to accompany my retirement blog. I'm a busy girl! LOL Go for it James, if you want to write a book. You just need to write a Word Document and upload it. They even have a format to help you create a cover, etc.

You certainly are busy! Sounds like Amazon is the way to go. I recall that you have mentioned your books before.

@JamesHxstatic - Yes! Amazon is definitely the way to go. In fact, Elizabeth Wallace has a book on Amazon, now, called "Free College," and she has sold several copies already. I hope you do write a book. If nothing else, I encourage people to write a little family biography and publish it on Amazon. You can buy a dozen or so copies and pass them on to your children and grandchildren. I haven't done it, but isn't it a fun idea?

I used to think I'd write a book but not any more. I wouldn't mind putting all my short stories together as an ebook or something just to have a record of them.

@JamesHxstatic Yes, Valerie is a real writer and there are others that have written books too. I wrote one and that is all I will do. It was cute but did not really sell so I do not want to put myself through it again.
