Have I committed a mistake by not going abroad to settle, and staying in India? I feel inferior to my friends that went abroad and seem to enjoy a posh life.

Hi friends, Welcome again , I am from India ya i love to stay here but some or maximum of my friends have gone abroad like the USA, Germany when I got this opportunity i decided not to go abroad and stay here and do something for my people, or rather open a business through which some people will get benefited and dropped the idea or going abroad and now I am in INDIA but my friends choose to go out and explore, I don't have any issue but its human behavior that if someone is getting happiness you also want the same, so I was getting distracted towards my aim, what should I do any suggestions ?

My husband was in US for 17 long years and I was there for 10 long years. I have stayed in other countries too like UK, South Africa and Japan. I am in India from 2013 and I never felt bad that we chose to settle here. There are pros and cons to all the societies and a luxurious life never means that it is a happy life.

@arunima25 Yeah, happiness matters, wherever you are. But these social media pics made me curious about these, let's see how many days I can control myself

@ayush4lipu If you are clear about your decision, they should not bother you.

@ayush4lipu Don't let social media'a picture fool you. I have been abroad for two and a half year but nothing is like my island. I learn that real happiness is with our motherland.

I never felt that way, almost all my contemporaries, former school mates, and a lot of my friends are working or living abroad, I'm proud that I do not need to go far to earn a living and more so that I could generate modest income for my countryman here. Don't believe everythin you hear, not everyone who goes there are succesful, happy or treated equally. It's my personal opinion and no offense to people who chose to stay or work, or who has love ones in a foreign land, to each his own.

Distractions are part and parcel of life, if what you do gives you happiness then i think it wont matter in the long run

You chose a different and more difficult path than your friends, but don't envy them. You chose to stay in India and be a light for your people. That is admirable.

If you did what your friends did, maybe you were thinking now that you wish you are in India.

Maybe you should live your life and forget what those other people were saying about you.

Don’t trust social media post all the time... people don’t usually post when they bad, all post only whats best but no one post their failures... I moved from Lithuania to UK but I love my country to bits its just politics are very bad in there... government takes everything for them selfs and citizens are struggling atm... when I go back for holidays everyone says that their jealous... that we live better in uk have more money etc... but we live in uk and pay all the bills and struggling with every day life... its just more opportunities to provide for my family in here... but if economies will improve in my country I would like to go back...
