It’s Not What You Know

But who you know!
Our son and his bride met new friends through friends on vacation a month ago. They were invited to spend the weekend at their Beacon Hill house in the heart of Boston this weekend.
The male is a mover and shaker in the steel business. He is well known in the area and was able to snag impossible to get dinner reservations. He also was able to bypass a long line to a club, speak to the owner, and get the group in. Nice to have clout. Our son and his bride had so much fun!
The photo is of my son’s own design in his den. He hired a contractor to add the finishing touches. He’s now home enjoying showing it off to his inlaws. Pretty nice, huh?

I too have something similar as a wall unit I have two such. I only had to provide doors to the tv to safeguard the wires from possible mouse invasion.

@DianneN I wonder why these mice get in and attack the wires. There is so much for them to fill their bellies in the garden
Our wall units are not pretty but practical.

Yours must be beautiful. We bought a dark one for our new family room when we redecorated it. Our old family room has builtins from floor to ceiling and wall to wall. Our son was worried about the lights being to close to the top. Thank goodness we don't have mice invading our houses here. Once in a blue moon, one will get in our basement, but we have traps set. Our son is in charge during the time we are not here. Nice job. Lol!

@allknowing Perhaps it's warmer inside and perhaps wires are a delicacy to mice.
I'm sure your wall units are just fine!

Does your son practice Feng Shui? That looks like a very harmonious layout. I want one.

The room is very beautiful although the word "den" to me means more books and not a big TV.

@DianneN Sometimes words depend on the mood. Before I got ill, I spent a big part of the day in the second floor. I called me room either "my coven" or "my pigsty" in Spanish, of course. That´s where I wrote.

Thank you. It's really meant to be an office, but his family room is right through the French doors. Neither of them wanted to place a huge TV over the fireplace in the family room.. I guess it's just terminology. His office is in one of the spare bedrooms. We have two family rooms. One is loaded with books, but we never refer to it as a den.

@DianneN - It is fun to furnish and decorate a home. I'm sure they are enjoying the experience.

@DeborahDiane They are, especially since we are paying for it. . It's our housewarming gift to them. Our son stopped by earlier and told us about furniture he'd like for his screened in porch that was on sale. I told him to get it. It sounded perfect to me.

Ain't that the truth! Lol!
Thank you. That room was meant to be an office, but he used a spare bedroom for his office. They didn't want their TV in their family room hanging over their fireplace. That room is almost complete. They still are looking for a sage green carpet and a coffee table and end tables. The furniture is in!

Thank you! That's his white room. French doors lead to his family room which will have dark wood, like walnut, when he can find pieces that have prices that aren't through the roof. He still needs to furnish his dining room, living room, and most of the bedrooms.

that is already a part of our Filipino culture, especially when looking for jobs.i am just proud to say that i worked in 3 institutions with nobody to back me up. so does my son too. we only had our former deans and former director of the hospital when i and my son applied for our jobs.
the living room of your son is so pristine.

That's great that you and your son did so well on your own, but I'm sure you both had wonderful merits to back you up.
Thank you. This was meant to be an office, but he wanted a cozy TV room. He is still working on his family room and hasn't touched his living room or dining room, yet.

I can relate, being in media I know many people who can make the long line short and open the door when its close. Such influence when you have the network.

Very nice. I doubt I will ever have a tv that large. Nice built in.

@celticeagle I'd throw out the kitchen table. Lol! Just kidding. I don't mind a smaller TV, just as long as it works!
