@AngelizaQT They were very popular on both sides of the Atlantic back in the sixties. A step change from all the boring ballads of the fifties.

@Orson_Kart My sister is a huge fan of Ed Sheeran. I like him, too. But I only ever listen to him once in a blue moon.

Ah yes, I'm with you. I seem to like the 50s-80s the best. I think the reason is there is more sampling, electronic effects, and the like going on.... so less actual talent needs to happen

Right now I think we are stuck in an era of unoriginality. I mean, even a popular guy like Ed Sheeran has been sued many times because he's pretty much ripping off old music. There are few artists today that will stand the test of time. We are long overdue for something new and original. It is coming though. We are just in a rut.
