I am very much of a coke fan and a reason of which there are many left over bottles at home.
I usually use them for filling drinking water and keep them in my freezer to chill.
Yesterday one of friends had come over and he said avoid using these bottles for storing drinking water its not good.
I replied if coke then why not?
He had no specific answer as to why, accept for he had heard it from someone.
Do you think its not right to store drinking water in coke bottles.

I think people worry to much about that sort of thing. I've been doing it about all my like and I'm still kicking. Heck I've even drank water right out of the river plenty of times. I've even drank from water hoses, which they say you shouldn't do now. And next month I'll be 63!!

You have drank water from the river, do you like tracking or mountaineering? If you are been using them all your life then it certainly is nothing to worry about. And wishes for your 63rd birthday in advance

@nitirrbb7 No, we would drink water from the river sometimes when we would be out in the boat fishing and run out of somethings to drink. You just put your bottle way deep down in the running water. I don't know if I would still do it now or not.

@rakski and @toniganzon are both perfectly right, I use a glass water to keep the water in the refrigerator.

@nitirrbb7 It's safer and you are sure that no toxic chemicals pollute your water.

I learnt it recently and have made up my mind to get rid of those bottles and replace them with steel bottles to store water.

That's better instead of using plastic bottles. Klean Kanteens is the brand name of the bottles.

It will cause harm only if you store hot water in the plastic bottle. The hotness releases chemicals which when consumed is harmful for health.

@nitirrbb7 no the hot liquid should come in contact with the bottle.

Oh is it so, no we don't store hot water in these bottles. But what if the atmosphere is to hot which also could cause the chemical reaction in the bottle, what say?

They are toxic. Just use glass bottles instead.

According from the expert, there's associated risk. Pet bottles is not safe to use again because they're intended to be use once that's why it's called disposable. If you would notice, they put a label somewhere in the bottle those arrows in recycle sign with numerical grade put in it.

Yeah they have small sign with "please recycle" written on it. Instead they should have mentioned it clearly that reuse of the bottle should not be done.
