Painful Reactions to Certain Foods

In the last few years, I've discovered that I can't eat some foods that I used to enjoy. I'm 55 and recently post-menopausal. I'm putting that info out there just in case anyone has had a similar experience or has knowledge about this. I don't know if it's an actual allergy, but when I eat certain foods, my tummy swells up and I have horrible pains way up high, under my sternum. It usually takes 3 hours or longer for my symptoms to subside. The foods that affect me this way are raw tomatoes, strawberries, watermelon and bananas.

Don't neglect it and get an allergy test. You may recover from it eventually with the right treatment.

Yes I have just discovered that I really should not have Carrageen. It is found in my half and half so I must go organic now and it is so much more expensive, but thats okay my colon likes it. I know since aging some, I can no longer tolerate a lot of different stuff. Sorry it has hit you too.

Thanks @Courage7. Well I guess this food intolerance problem might be fairly common.

I think you're right @Icydoll. Thanks! I keep thinking that I might have a serious reaction someday, so maybe I shouldn't take any chances.
