Vince has been in touch again and has put some photos up on Facebook so I have pinched a couple to show you all. They travelled 125 km (77.6 miles) yesterday in just under 7 hours.
They are now in Pokhara where normally you would expect to get some incredible views of the mountains. They went up to Sarangkot to catch the sunrise but said the clouds spoilt the views. It was cold there, so cold he bought a rug made from yak hair from a lady who was weaving them on her loom on the verandah. Imagine working in sight of such majestic mountains.
The bus driver of Vince’s group has claimed one of the beanies I crocheted. I made over 50 in all sorts of patterns and colours. They will be distributed in Kathmandu to children in a cancer ward. It looks as though Mocca’s beanie is only just big enough but then the beanies weren’t designed with grown men in mind.
The photo of the mountain was taken last time Vince was in Nepal when the weather was more co-operative. It is called ‘Fishtail’ and is almost as high as Everest. It is a sacred mountain and it is forbidden to climb it.

@JudyEv wow the jumper (we call them as sweater as well) looks so colorful and nice. My paternal grandmother was an expert in hand knitting sweaters, some of which were very warm.
In fact, one of the sweaters that she knitted was so warm that at times my father had to take them off when sleeping even during very cold nights.
In markets, we rarely get that much warm sweaters.

I told him not to bring me home a gift but he is saying he bought this for himself - it looks, um, colourful but at least they are muted colours. Did you see the jumper a lady knitted for him? I might score that too as it looks a bit short.

When ai wear hats I like them to cover my ears but if this man likes the way the beanie fits then awesome for him! I wonder what that blanket feels like that your husband bought. Usually things are too itchy for me to use unless they are fleece.

The beanies were made for children so he is lucky it gets to his ears! I'm like you. I like them to cover my ears. If there is a next time, I'll have to make some adult ones. Hopefully the yak rug will be soft but I don't really know. As their coat has to keep out rain and snow it could well be a bit coarse.

I always think that when you hear something or come across a new word within a very short time you'll hear/see it at least once more. I don't know if it smells. It might have been washed somewhere during the gathering/spinning/weaving process so hopefully most of the smell with be gone. I guess if you're freezing you'd put up with the smell. If it does smell it will remain Vince's.

Vince is becoming more and more eastern looking and I hope you recognise him when he gets home. Ha ha ha my hubby doesn't shave at all when he goes fishing for that month, and one year he returned looking very overgrown - I have asked him to please arrive as he left for all future travels.

@JudyEv - I've been on part of the trail that you take to hike to the top of Pikes Peak, but I used it to run down back into Manitou after climbing a different trail. I have also skied on Pikes Peak. There was a very small ski area on the mountain back in the 80's.

Vince is the cause of so many of your discussions lately and we are glad that you share it with us.
The lady must be happy to have sold her rug to Vince.
Nepal is beautiful. I have been to Kathmandu as a teen. I don't now how it looks now especially after the earthquake devastation.

@arunima25 Probably not as Vince would want to go to Lumbini and the other towns that involve a very long and rough bus ride. I have a bad back and I don't think it would be a good idea for me to subject it to such rough roads.

@nawala123 No. It might seem strange but yaks are not sacred.

Thanks to technology you are not left out in whatever your beloved is up to.
It is sad when clouds play spoil sport. It happened with us when we were planning to take a flight to get close to the Himalayas.

It is almost as high as Mt Everest so it would be a difficult climb.
