Does This Happen With Your Discussions Too?

Sometime I devote lot of time in researching on a subject to prepare an interesting / informative discussion on Mylot.
I subject it to spell check. I check the punctuations. I decorate with smileys.
And expect a lot of responses for the discussion.
But unfortunately many a times I don’t receive many responses to such discussion.
On the contrary when I prepare a discussion, very casually and post it surprisingly I get many responses!
It happens with you too?
If so, what do you think the reason behind this?

@JudyEv , Yes, new , curious things are always interesting! Like the posts you made about your traveling few months back and also the last two posts about the Kangaroo and the Kookaburra! Such posts always draws the attention as people are learning something new in an informal way!

Yes, that happens with everyone on myLot. The more effort we seem to put into a discussion, the fewer respondents we seem to have on that discussion.
Although, I have found that since I write discussions so rarely, people will finally respond when they can't find anything newer I've written!

@AKRao24 You do realize that you could "cash in" on the same type of thing by just writing fewer discussions, right?

That happens many times.
The discussion I think should bring a lot of discussion bombs....but the fluff I throw out to have something new posts...attracts a lot of attention and comments.

@Morleyhunt , Yes, we have many people here whose native language is not English...So I am not very particular about the grammar! Yes, spellings can be checked by spell check!

@AKRao24 that's part of it. Also something I can read that isn't full of spelling and grammar errors makes for easy reading. Some of the woe is me posts, I just skip over.

I don't know, my friend. Maybe most people can relate with casual things.

@AKRao24 Well, it is always depends. Ha ha. Sometimes when I'm a bit serious with my post people flocked with my discussion.

I've been here for a couple of days, I still do not know everything, but I noticed that sometimes I have very little discussion, and sometimes a lot. I do not know what the reason is, maybe because I'm new. I do not know if it's always a short post or an uninteresting one, because I've seen a lot of posts with just one sentence and a lot of discussion underneath.

Yes, you are right! Most of the people come hee to have some good and nice time with their virtual friends! I think hardly any one interested in making money as this site is poor in paying! So people like some light discussions and by participating in them they want to lighten themselves of their tensions, pressures and burdens!

@AKRao24 Frankly, I'm always on the net for the money, because I need it and I'm really trying. I always try to help others, and here I have seen people cooperate well, but you're right here many are not for profit, but because of socializing and relaxing.

I guess this has happened to me as well. The popularity of your discussions mostly depends on how many people are interested in it, and if it is easy to respond to. Sometimes you can put a lot of effort into one discussion, but then not get many responses, and other times you can just say "what's your favorite ___?" and get 50 responses!

for me, i think i should not think hard if my discussions do not get likes or comments in the first few hours. whatever i do or share or feel, i share them by discussions. i even do not think about topics, and i type as if my mind is a tape recorder, encoding the situations without even editing the thoughts and ideas.
that is why i have so many grammatical errors and in spelling, that i edit once i respond to a comment on the same discussion.

@ridingbet , yes, if people can't connect themselves with the topic they may not show any interest in the discussion!

@AKRao24 i like to think that my discussions are my own experiences and no lies are posted. but it seems many users do not agree with personal 'blogs' and prefer other discussions or issues in posting.
before i can fetch up to 25 responses and comments but now, i sometimes get single digits only

@AKRao24 Yes that even I felt. People connect well to regular casual topics than the thoughtful ones. They can also carry on with conversation with more ease.
