Rest In Peace Little Kuma

Kuma lived for two months and 1 day after her diagnosis of a rare and aggressive sarcoma.
She hid in my closet for the last 9 days. We fed her, brushed, and rubbed her in there.
The vets arrived Thursday at our house. Kuma was given a sedative in our son’s arms. She fell asleep within seconds and she was placed on our son’s old bed. We each took turns kissing her goodbye and the caring and nurturing Vet wrapped Kuma in her favorite blanket as if she were a gift.
She was placed in a wooden coffin that my husband and son built the day before with her favorite toy. We buried her in my rock garden, a place in the sun with lots of birds and butterflies for her, and sent her to Heaven with prayers and love.
And that’s why I haven’t been here. It has been extremely sorrowful for us. We loved her so much and have to grieve.

@hereandthere On her left shoulder. We were afraid it would reach her spine. As it was, she scratched the heck out of her neck, so must have felt it creeping along.

Many blessings to you and your family on this most painful loss. I know Kuma is chasing butterflies in the fields of heaven. I know that you will feel her around you for quite a while yet. Long ago in 2009 when my first cat passed on I felt her brushing along my legs and saw her shadow and many other signs until she knew we were alright without her and my present cat Sid came into our lives.

@rebelann Awww, thank you. Being an animal lover, too, I'm sure you totally understand what we've been through. She knew she was was well loved.
Doodles tried to go upstairs with my son and the Vet, but I caught him just in time. He did stand on her grave in the garden all by himself on his first walk after she passed. It amazed me, since he never walks in that particular area. I showed him around the bedrooms where she preferred to hang out and told him, "No more Kuma." I think he knew what was coming before we did. He sensed it.
We are all so very sad and heartbroken and hope she didn't suffer.

I have tears in my eyes, we just experienced this a month ago. They leave an imprint of their sweet paw in our heart, that never goes away! I love you, Dianne

@kobesbuddy I'm sure we both can write books about the vast personality differences in all of our pets, past and present. They bring such joy to our lives.

@DianneN Every one of them has a unique personality, that's impossible to forget! Their cut antics, how they played and enjoyed life to its fullest:) I had an ole boxer Teddy, when the kids were in school we'd go out to 'Dairy Queen' together for a small vanilla cone! He ate a lot faster than I did and ended up finishing mine, too

You showed much respect for your beloved pet. This is the best any one can do for such a pet. It is hard to live with that pain I am sure. I am sorry for your loss and hope that your cat suffered little or no pain in her last days. Much respect.

@lookatdesktop Yikes! What a sad demise for your poor little cat. We've lost so many pets, cats and dogs, over the years. Now we can laugh at their antics and reminisce. Hopefully, as time passes, we can do the same for sweet little Kuma. Right now, our son can't bring himself to look at her grave. I find comfort in "talking" to her there and through prayers. Once the crying jags lessen, we will be fine. Being busy helps a lot. Thank you!

May her soul rest in peace. It is a sorrowful time for you and your family. Thankfully Kuma left with lots of love and did not have to bear the extreme pain.

Thank you. It's been so sad for us all, but our son, whose cat Kuma was, has taken it badly. He did everything in his power to keep her from suffering, yet he is suffering the most right now. At least he is eating a bit and getting a little sleep now. Time will heal us all.
