Why I might not answer the phone right away

Reasons why you might not get me right off:
I hear the phone ringing. Now where is IT?? Oh. Finally found it in the bed covers. Must have dropped it when I was reading and falling asleep.
Phone ringing. My hands are covered in pizza dough. Sticky pizza dough. Get on the answering machine and maybe, just maybe I'll answer you.
Next time I go down to the car to drive somewhere. Oh! The phone. In the cup holder. I'll discover that you tried to reach me IF you bother with the answering machine.
Or that phone could be in the bed side bench where it fell out of my pants pocket. Or buried on the stuff on the oak dresser.
Get the picture? Some day I'll bother to answer you and some day I'll get around to caring cause hey, maybe the tub wall is sodden with water and I need to think about it, like I just heard on the radio. Ha.

If I don't recognize the number, I will never answer my phone. I only give my number out to people I know. Plus, I'm tired of scammers, auto-bots, and politicians blowing up my phone every day.

@sallypup I had two today. And it never fails that I always seem to get one at night right when I start to fall asleep.

@moffittjc Yesterday an autobot rang my phone at 7 am. That really does tick a person off.

I lose my phone on my bed as well. I don't often sleep with it but I have fallen asleep with my glasses laying beside me and my phone sitting beside it. This happened when I was reading and got so tired that I could only expel enough energy to take my glasses off my face and put it clear away from where I was laying.
I don't answer the phone unless I recognize the number.

That doesn't work for me because I don't have anyone's number memorized now!

@1creekgirl Ah well, I have a cellphone and so it shows up whose number is whose. Even so, I still have my friends and families numbers memorized.

I might be the only person without a cell phone, I have two landlines in the house and often let it go to message so I don't waste my time on scammers. I'm thinking its about time to get one especially for the car.

@PainsOnSlate I'm barely one step above you. Barely. I use a very old flip phone, no house phone. It doesn't text or go on the internet. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. We bought the flip phones when we moved to the country for the just in case times when we could have a car emergency.

@PainsOnSlate The battery should still be okay. Guess you'll know when you try it!

@sallypup funny you mentioned it. I have one of those in my dresser drawer. I bought it when I was having problems with my health and needed it to drive 4 hours to my daughter's home. I knew I needed to stop and walk on that 4 hour trip so I bought it to phone her to let her know where I was... Hummm in the drawer for years, I wonder... will pull it out and see if it still works... (or go buy a new one)

some day I'll get around to caring ---I think way too many people rush to care about too many things.
