Crazy week for a wanna be extra (actor)

I got booked for an extras job in Portland for Thursday. That was all but certain on Tuesday. Another gig was available on Wednesday. This casting person was a phone texter, no email for her. Many questions back and forth via text until late afternoon Tuesday, then silence. Okay, I did not get that one, I thought. Then at 8 PM, another text, what kind of car do I have? (Sometimes they use cars as props). I told her and asked, "Do I need to pack?" Not yet, she said, at which I texted back and said I would pass on that one. She understood and was at the mercy of an undecided casting director, I guess. Anyway, I went to Portland, Wednesday, had lunch downtown with my daughter, went to her house and played with my grand-dog Chihuahua, then drove a few miles to West Linn for the job. It was fun, and I was back at her house before 11 PM. There was a chance they would need me until 3 AM on the next location they were headed to, but I showed too prominently in the scene I was in to be in the next episode. On Sunday, another text from the texting casting person. Wanted my availability (all day) for a Tuesday shoot right here in Eugene. I am headed to Portland to dog sit, so had to say no. Then this morning, another text, can I do it? Okay, I said, but must be out by noon Tuesday for the drive. So, I am hired, will be on the set (some restaurant downtown) by 7:30 AM, then I am off to Portland in the afternoon. There is much going on and it is all fun, but a bit hectic at times.
