Kate Middleton's dress

At a gala dinner hosted by Queen Elizabeth II, Kate Middleton wore this dress. I read that it is an amazing dress designed by Alexander McQueen but for me it is an awful dress. Magazines say that she looked like a princess but I look at the dress and it seems to be all wrinkled, badly designed and didn't fit her well.
I would never wear this
But it seems it is only me because everyone loves the dress. Is there someone here who shares my opinion? Would you wear this dress?

First of all, let's get it straight! Her name is neither 'Kate' nor 'Middleton'. She has always been 'Katherine' and doesn't like being called 'Kate' and, as a wife, she takes her husband's name and style and has relinquished her maiden name.
As for the dress, what you refer to as 'wrinkles' is, I believe, called 'ruching' and the apparently random way in which the material is gathered is actually very carefully planned. The Duchess of Cambridge is very lucky (after bearing three children) to be able to wear a dress like this and I think that it not only suits her but is also very elegant, though I am not too sure about the rather wide shoulder straps.
Would I wear this dress? Not in a million years (even if I could)! The Duchess, however, looks stunning in it!

Personally, I don't like the fabric used in this dress.

I like the dress although it actually reminds me of some of the fashions my Barbie dolls wore. It is elegant and there is no way I could wear it now. At thirty something, I likely would have worn it if I had a fine occasion to attend.

I don't think it is that becoming personally.

The 'wrinkled' you are saying is a style actually and I think it is very hard to achieve because for one, you need the right fabric. The style is actually good and it fits the Duchess very nicely and elegantly though I think there are much more better and much suitable design for here. She is one fashionable woman and she is nice to dress with.

I am not a fan of this dress, and I do not think it looks good on her. I mean, she is still stunningly beautiful, but this dress just doesn't look very flattering on her.

@nela13 I don't know about the quality of her fashion advisors, but so far this has been the only dress I've seen that I don't like on her.

@moffittjc Yes, she use to wear beautiful dresses, but this one was a very unhappy choice.

The first thing that came into my mind when I saw the dress was it was awful. If I was a woman and somebody gave me that dress for nothing, I would not want it. Am I terrible for thinking that?

I love Alexander McQueen, but have seen prettier dresses. I don’t think it’s flattering in my opinion. The wrinkles are the part of the design and material, but I dislike those straps and how low the bodice goes. I had a strapless dress very similar, but the flare began slightly below the hips.

no. I wouldn't wear it because I don't like the style of it. And yes it's too wrinkly.
