I am having a hard time sleeping. It is the very wee hours of the morning. So I got up to eat some cottage cheese. I was feeling hungry and probably had not eaten enough protein foods before bed. So, I also went to Swag Bucks and now I am here. I may as well start November off with a good start. After I get up for good, I am going to bake some chicken for us and for the cat. Then I will use part of the chicken to make a soup that I read about in a magazine. It is supposed to be very healthy and help you lose weight because it is supposed to satisfy your cravings. I have been eating lots of bread the last day or so. I think I am craving it because my sleep pattern is disrupted right now. I am also craving sweets.Neither one of those things help with sleep. I have cottage cheese, hard boiled eggs, peanut butter and string cheese on hand for protein snacks. I just need to eat them before bed time. And get more sleep.

I baked a chicken on Tuesday and I have half left. I am going to add some vegetables, slice it and stir fry.

It was a rough night, so I got up at 6:30. Chicken is cooked and cooling. Queso dip is warming to go with our lunch. The soup will be mostly for me.

@Hannihar Yes, but soup also counts for fluid intake. You are smart to be doing things for your health.

I like the kind I can make at home. Not so much some of the canned ones. I guess you would actually call this vegetable soup with some chicken.

One of cats loves chicken the other eats nothing but his dry food, not even treats. Hope you can rest better tonight.

I blend chicken, oatmeal, pumpkin and yogurt for her, vet approved. She does not like fish cat foods and the dry food I give her is chicken as well.

I often get up and come here when I can't sleep. As you said, better to be productive than to toss and turn all night.

I am not usually that wide awake. I know the "experts" say to avoid electronic light before bed and during the night, but who listens to "experts.

Why do you get hungry dear, are you on a diet? Though you dont sound putting yourself on a diet because of numerous foods you mentioned? I tried to put myself on diet, not to lose weight because i was slim, but just to cleanse my system. I tried to eat fruits in the afernoon, but when dinner came, my goodness , i felt like i hadnt eaten for a year. I devoured my dinner. My goal never succeeded.

I am diabetic. When the insulin changes in the middle of the night, it makes you hungry. Carbs "burn off" too fast. Protein helps steady the blood sugar and are supposed to help you sleep through the night. Having your sleep disrupted can make your diabetes worsen.

@GardenGerty now i understand. I heard some stories from my friends who are indeed diabetic.

You use bone broth or chicken broth, and barley. Onions, carrots, celery and mushrooms and shredded chicken. I think I wrote more in another discussion.

I find that sweets before bed totally disrupt the sleep. Maybe that is just me. Hope you can get some decent sleep in at some point.

No, sweets seem to make you need to get up more, and they seem to rush your brain and interfere with lots of body functions.
