Did You Have Many Trick or Treaters?

Since we live in a California retirement community, we never have any Trick or Treaters. It is one of the few things I miss about living here. I used to always look forward to all the little kids showing up at the door for a piece of candy.
Above is a picture of two of my grandkids and their friends in their costumes, in front of our daughter's home in Delaware. It is the white house on the left, with the double front porches. They get hundreds of Trick or Treaters at their house. One of these years I will have to try to be there for Halloween, so I can enjoy the abundance of Trick or Treaters there.
I'll be staying there for 10 days in November, starting the day after the election. The space over the garage is their very comfortable guest room. So, if I am slow to respond to notifications, you will know that I am safe and sound, playing with my little grandkids!
I'm not leaving, yet, though, so I'll still be around on MyLot for a few more days!

Halloween isn't our native festival. However this year my granddaughter who studies at a foreign language school and her classmates celebrated the Halloween. She made a pumpkin lantern on her own.

@DeborahDiane Oh, there are many people there who celebrate the Chinese New Year! Here some celebrate the Valentine's Day,especially the young people.

Oh, I think it is wonderful that she made a pumpkin lantern. I'm sure it was very cute! I think that, no matter where you live, it is interesting to learn about festivals in other countries. Where I live, many people celebrate the Chinese New Year.

@changjiangzhibin89 - I can see why Valentine's Day would be popular with young people around the world!

The local Mall has organized a little party for the kids the 31st in the afternoon. There are no trick-or-treaters here, kids are home from school this week because the 1st of November is a holiday and most people have gone away for one week vacation.

@LadyDuck - I love it that the mall organized a party for kids. I'm sure they enjoyed it. I am hearing from a lot of people in the US that they had very few Trick or Treaters. I think the tradition is going away.

@LadyDuck - Yes, it can be scary to let your children get candy from strangers. Many people are doing parties, haunted houses and similar things.

We had more kids than last year. Our little town has a special Halloween program for the kids with games, candy, and even a firework display. This is a great idea, since the homes in our town sit on a minimum of 1 1/2 acres. That's a lot of walking to load up on candy.

@DianneN - That is a great idea. I think a lot of people feel safer when they take their kids to parties, rather than walking along the street going to the homes of strangers.

@HazySue - Yes, it is sad that parents no longer feel comfortable with this tradition. It will probably fade away in another generation.

@HazySue - Yes, you are right. It is sad, but that is what has happened over the years.

@CarolDM - Yes, I think kids in many parts of the country go to special events these days, rather than going door to door.

@CarolDM - I agree. It was fun as children to go door-to-door and most people tended to be very nice. Our daughter's neighborhood consists mostly of young, suburban families and they have a huge Halloween celebration there, but it is the exception. There are few communities like that anymore.

We don't have Halloween. It looks like a very interesting holiday. I like people in their costumes.

@caopaopao - Children look forward to dressing up in costumes. I think that is the most fun part of the festival.

@JohnRoberts - I think the tradition is on the decline. Fewer parents want their kids to go out. It is too scary.

@nela13 - That is interesting that you had a lot of trick or treaters in Portugal, especially since people seem to be getting fewer here in the United States. I hope you enjoyed it!

Unfortunately we do not do trick or treat on my country since Halloween is more of a commercial holiday here :( I've always wanted to travel to the US at this time for the year because I love the decoration and would like to give candy to trick or treaters.
I'll have to try in future years! I wanna see the kids in costumes, I'm sure they're adorable.

No as far I know, there were a few trick or treaters but since the front light was turned off, no one knocked on the door.
