All-Time favorite book

I first read Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit years (4) before they came to the US. I was going to an English School in Bangkok Thailand, and the librarian introduced to the JRR Tolkien books. I fell in love with those books. I know that when they came to the US, I was so disappointed (they were heavily edited on their first US release). But those are my favorite books still. What is yours?

@NormanDarlo I went to an English school when I lived in Thailand. The librarian was someone that I connected with - she introduced me to many works of literature, and also a love of reading great works!

I have The Hobbit: The Enchanting Prelude to the Lord of the Rings gifted to me last Christmas. I haven't read it yet. I can't say i'm a fan but I've seen the movies. I love spy novels. I've read all of Robert Ludlum's books, I can't pick one as a favorite though.

Ludlum was an airplane favorite of mine (along with Clive Cussler). Enjoyable and fun to read while stuck on an airplane for 20 hours!

Glad you like him too. I've never read anything from Clive Cussler but i'll add him to my list.

@docandersen If I was pushed to choose an absolute favourite it would probably be Dostoyevsky’s Crime and Punishment, but there are so many to choose from.

I really don't read much anymore (unless I am reading kid books to my son). I used to love books by Ellen Hopkins; so I would say any of her novels!

@DocAndersen That's good to listen to them in the car! I don't think I would like to give up listening to the radio though lol

When my kids were young I was in the same boat. Now, I listen to Audible books in the car!
