Yesterday Was Shopping Day!

That's the main reason why I was MIA again. Once we got home I just relaxed for the rest of the night, didn't even turn my computer on.
We do a big shopping trip once a month to buy our groceries. We shouldn't buy a bunch of frozen items though because we need a freezer (the one attached to our fridge is tiny).
We started at a store called WinCo. Do you have one of those, or something similar? Anyways, there I got most of the food items. Meats, cheeses, etc. I tried to find mostly low carb options because I do need to get back to that way of eating.
WinCo has a deal where if you buy 100$ worth of groceries or more you can get a free turkey..and we took them up on that offer. I will have to cook it in a day or two though since we definitely don't have the room to freeze it. Early Thanksgiving dinner for us I guess!
Then we went to Target. Did not really get anything there. I wanted some things, but it's always so expensive there. Ended up just getting Eli a matching game he wanted for $3.
Then we went to lunch at Five Guys: Burgers & Fries. I got a cheeseburger with BBQ Sauce...so delicious! They messed up the order, but they were so nice about it...and even gave us a gift card for the trouble.
After that we went to Wal-Mart to finish up the shopping day. There I got some more food items (I finally found some sugar free BBQ sauce). Didn't get a whole lot there either...a few other household items that I don't really need to name off.
Do you do a really big shopping trip once a month, or do you shop more often and do smaller grocery hauls?

Thanks for your input! I would too if we had any place worth shopping at close by.

That is our trouble too....not having a place to put things. But that's good to buy as needed. We like to do the once a month thing because anywhere worth shopping at is too far away, so we make a day of it.

@MommyOfEli2013 Fortunately, where I live I'm surrounded by so many hypermarkets. It only takes me about 5 minutes to get to the nearest hypermarket.

Happy for you! I don't think I'll shop some more this coming Christmas as I've made my shopping this month already. But I miss shopping for good clothes and kicks, maybe I'll buy a video game or something on Christmas

Well that is a good way to shop....we just don't really have any good stores near us so we have to travel.
And we are looking into it, just got to save enough $ to do so.

Wow sounds like a very busy day and on the 1 st and that area we go shopping but we don't really have that much money we can spend so we just get the stuff we need and hopefully make it through the month.

We understand that, kind of the same here...luckily I don't spend it all on the one trip. And yes, it was a very busy day!

No we don't have a WinCo here on Oahu. Glad things went well for you though the lunch was a bit of a mix up but you got a gift card, so that is nice. I do small shopping lots of time because I only use the bus. I got a pull cart so it's a lot easier to get my shopping done now. We're still waiting for a Sonic and no 5Guys yet. We got Wendy's, Taco Bell, McDonalds, Pizza Hut though. I've got my Thanksgiving food on sale which is good. Congrats on your free turkey!

It is expensive for the poundage for this bird is a lot. I made some hamburger won ton that I cooked and froze for my holiday too. Going to add some fresh veggies to the meal too to balance out for healthier eating. Glad I found some low sugar pies at 2 stores now...Don Quiote and Times. I only found them at Foodland, but now 3 stores has low sugar or sugar free pies, yipeeee!

@oahuwriter oh yes, turkeys can be expensive! That's good, never tried that but that's great to hear. And that's great to have low sugar pies. I may try to make some sugar free desserts for the holidays; but we'll see!

Too bad that you don't have a WinCo...but the closest one to me is almost an hour away! And that is true that you do smaller shopping trips since you take the bus. That's great to have a cart. We have a cart for taking groceries out of the car into the house and that comes in very handy. Oh wow, not even a sonic? Well...my town really only has a Subway everything else is at least 20 minutes away in another town.
That's great to get your thanksgiving food on sale! And thank you, the free turkey is great would have been over 20 dollars otherwise!

Once a month works for some! We need more space to be able to buy enough for one trip though.
