Is Lotion Really For Girls Only?

The other day while I was putting on lotion, my hubby came in from the shower. I told him to put on lotion, so his skin will be moisturized. But he declined saying , lotion are for ladies only. Actually, he really didn’t like to apply lotion , ever since I keep telling him to put some. Thus, I buy soaps that has lots of moisturizers. That way, his skin will also be moisturized. Do you believe that lotion are for girls only? For girls here, does your partner apply lotion to their bodies? For guys, do you apply lotion too?

Not at all, now men here in Europe spend more than women for beauty products, including moisturizing lotions, anti age creams and so on.

@MALUSE I have seen men in the stores asking questions about the better products to use. Ma husband has a very sensitive skin, he needs something to apply after he shaves, or his face will turn pink/red.

I think it's where (the trend) the term Metrosexual coined from.

Yes, like Eds @ZedSmart, he was prescribed a lotion for his dry skin that caused him itching. My ritual isn't complete after taking a bath, if I din't apply lotion. That is why even at the office I have a lotion.

@Ladanger I guess, we both are used to applying lotion to our skin after bath since we were kids. I think, it is the way our mother taught us while growing up.

Will all you women let a man answer? I like when my skin is silky smooth. Women have enough beefs about me, my manly skin does need to be one of them. Come on that is funny.

No, that is not funny. That is because men and women are susceptible to dry skin because of the surrounding or climate we may be experiencing. That is why, both need a lotion to protect their skin from drying,

Yes, that is my thoughts too, because all of us will be prone to dry skin in one way or another. And men are not exempted from it. But my hubby is adamant that he doesn't like putting on lotion.

@SIMPLYD :))) maybe he thinks it can make him so feminine. Men are not vain with their skin, unlike us.

@Janet357 Indeed, us girls are vain when comes to our skin. Boys are not. Though there are boys who are vain too, that they also put some facial creams on their face. My hubby doesn't like those at all. He feels less manly.

@ZedSmart Urea lotion. Maybe you should try looking for that at online shopping sites, because of what my officemate experienced. She was prescribed a cream for her face and a small bottle costs 1900 pesos. Luckily, she saw the big bottle it was poured from and take a picture of it on her phone when the dermatologist went outside to talk to her assistant. She then, told her she will just come back to buy. Then she searched for it online and found it in Lazada. It was half the price of the one small bottle supposedly for sale to her and it's on the big bottle the dermatologist poured it from.

Yes, certainly the boys are so prone to those because they don't apply lotion to their arms and legs. Good thing, you are now applying a lotion for dry skin. Mind you, the lotions prescribed for those dry skin causing itching, are so expensive.

@SIMPLYD Vaseline for dry skin is cheaper and it works. During that consultation he also given me with urea lotion available only on his clinic.

@rsa101 But it shouldn't be like that because the skin has pores and it will absorb the lotion a bit later.

See, just like my husband. My hubby doesn't like the feel of the lotion in addition to the work of having to apply it on his arms after he took a bath in the morning.

That's nice to know. Dry skin doesn't know the gender of the one it inflicts. But I am wise because I bought a soap with lots of moisturizer so my hubby's skin could be moisturized too because he doesn't like putting on lotion.

Yes, when your skin is dry, a lotion is a must. But even if it is not , the lotion can prevent it from getting dry, thus make the skin itchy.

My husband uses Aveeno lotion every day because he is prone to eczema and contact dermatitis. I know that men and women who live in dry, cold climate will have to use lotion to avoid having chapped skin.

@SIMPLYD Yes, Aveeno is expensive here. We are grateful to our siblings abroad who regularly buy this lotion for my husband and for my kids. I'm not a big fan of lotion but there are a few brands that I like. Nivea is good too.

No, I don't think lotion is for girls only. I am a middle aged guy with horrible dry dry and unless I slather on lotion throughout the day, I am miserable. Now, I don't normally use scented lotion that often unless I am out of mine and all the lotion my wife has is scented.

There are lotions that are specifically for very dry skin and that's for both men and women. In your case, scented lotion isn't what you should be using since you have dry skin. So, you should have your own type of lotion since your wife's is simply to moisturize and make her skin fragrant also.

My younger daughter probably does not want me to look 95 so she sent me a few months ago 2 or 3 tubes of L'Oreal Men Expert daily moisturizing lotion with active UV defence SPF 15 which I usually apply on the face when I go to our hotel project site. Likewise, she also sent me L'Oreal Men Expert daily moisturizer anti-aging action which I apply on the face and neck after having a shower in the afternoon or evening. I'm not used to applying things like these but I'm doing it so what my daughter sent me won't go to waste LOL! Yesterday, a box arrived containing many items sent by our daughters which included Centrum for Men for me and another bottle of Centrum for their Mom :)
