Friends near the fires in California

I have a lot of friends in California, both from my college days and from my work here. I also have internet friends there. One of my online friends works at an animal hospital. If you saw something in the news about a cat who was rescued from their burning home, and was taken to the vet's, that is my friend's animal hospital! She says that the kitten is getting better, but the extent of his burns is beginning to show over his skin. She looks in on him every hour or so and gives us updates. There is a Go Fund Me that was set up for him which has already raised $7000. I guess vet care is really expensive in the States, but they really want to do what is right for this cat. They found his family, who is now involved in his care. My other friends include people who had to evacuate, had relatives who lost their home, and people who are extremely sensitive to smoke because of asthma. It's hard for everyone.
