Amazon Flex

Happy Wednesday all! Hope you all are getting geared up for your Turkey Day (Thanksgiving) plans if you have any. I personally will be just relaxing, doing some meal prep (not turkey!), some laundry, treadmill time, and then going to work the overnight. My family usually doesn't celebrate it, not for any particular reason, but that doesn't bother me much. At any rate, I heard a radio advertisement for this "Amazon Flex" "job" of sorts that basically is being an independent contractor for Amazon, on your own schedule, delivering packages for a few hours when you can.
I think I may sign up to do this. I have found myself, especially in the winter time, pretty bored on my Mondays and Tuesdays that I have off. Why not be less bored and make a couple bucks extra doing it? I forget what the hourly wage is that they pay. Not a ton, but I think it would be a fun project anyway. And a little extra money never hurt.
I would encourage those who live in the US to check and see if their areas are in need of delivery drivers. You use your own car, and it seems like a pretty flexible thing, where you can sign up just when you are available and not feel obligated to do a certain amount of hours, etc.
Have you heard of this "Amazon Flex" or know anyone who has done this?

No never heard of it, but I know there probably not anything around here like that as all these towns are very small, but then again you never know.

I have never heard of Amazon flex. My van isn't able to be driven right now as the front bumper got ripped off at my boyfriends house a few days ago. If I had four wheel drive I would consider doing this job but being in a rural area delivering packages with a minivan isn't going to work.

I have heard of Amazon but never heard of Amazon Flex before. Must be a job prescription or something.

They have independent drivers so I guess that is the flex job. Some are good and some should not be employed by Amazon. The big place is up near Portland but they are building one in Salem soon. I have a gas guzzling truck so won't use my own for deliveries.

Yes. I can totally understand that. Gas is not cheap. I have a smaller sedan, so I think gas wise it would be OK. I think I am going to try to do maybe like 4 hours a week, if it's available. We shall see though. They do a background check, but I haven't seen any other type of "screening" in the process so far.
