Our outdoor concert is fast approaching and has been providing fodder for a number of discussions. The gents’ toilet is set up and ready and now I’ve turned my attention to the ladies’ toilet. We have built this ourselves.
Firstly we dug a hole to take a septic tank. We would use a crowbar to loosen a couple of inches then add several inches of water over night as the soil was very hard. Over a period of a couple of weeks we reached the necessary depth. We then used the three-point linkage on the tractor to position the tank over the hole and lower it down.
The toilet is a garden shed. We’ve installed a flushing toilet and there is also a tiny hand-basin. Above the basin is a paper towel dispenser. After experimenting with solar lights, we now hook up the light to a battery which sits outside the toilet. So far, touch wood, we’ve had no complaints about our creation.

That is what is intriguing - you women doing jobs that you will only see labourers doing it here. I have no words to express my admiration for you

@allknowing I used to do a lot of manual work. I've lost weight since these photos - not that I'm vain or anything!

Thanks. We pick up the sound gear today but still can't do a lot else. Tomorrow will be different.

@JudyEv You both will surely survive alone if you're stranded in an uninhabited island

@anya12adwi Vince has always been curious about how things work and is handy with his hands so he is always asking questions of tradesmen, etc which all helps I guess.

@JudyEv That's great!! How you got to know like what are the stuffs required to build a toilet and how to build one? That skill does not come in handy

The one for the gents is a bit primitive but the ladies is very nice.

@judyev Such extraordinary lengths you go to for the comfort of your guests. I do hope Emily appreciates your hard work when she has recourse to use the dunny. I suppose you can put the potty on ebay afterwards as a piece of celebrity memorabilia - that should fetch a good bit of cash. My cousin who was a police officer had the lovely job of checking out every potty our dear queen used on a two day visit to NI many years ago. As soon as Louise declared the potty safe and bomb free her maj went in to do her business and then Louise went in again to make sure nothing had been left behind. She has in her collection now three tablets of soap with which the majestic hands were washed.

I can't imagine Aussies being very interested in this piece of memorabilia. So is Louise going to auction off the soap?
