Do You Get Affected Too?

I have a local TV soap show “Halik” that I love watching. It is shown at night from 9:30 to 10:15. Because of the intensity of the story, I hate the antagonist. Thus, I don’t watch it at night, because one time when I did, I wasn’t able to sleep because I so hate the lady antagonist. Thus, I just watch it during our lunch break at the office , on my laptop using my headphone so the others who are also watching their own favorite shows will not be disturbed. I also have an app of the local tv network so I can watch it at anytime. At least, even if I am again so affected by the intensity of the story, it can be diverted to my work. What about you, do you also get affected by the intensity of the show you are watching on TV or laptop, or mobile phone? Note : Picture is from google

My wife is hooked into it as well. I think the story is so intense that you will be looking forward to the next episode to watch how everything will end. I think the antagonist is doing his acting well that many are indeed hating him/her for her role. I see that many are even bashing them when they are off cam anymore.

@SIMPLYD Yes she would take a nap early so that she could watch it later and not feel sleepy when watching it late at night. Anyway the plot is very interesting since it can happen to anyone and almost everybody can relate to it. I watch also but at times I sleep along the show since some parts bore me. When there are confrontations happening is when it becomes interesting to watch.

Yes, a lot is affected really by Jade and Ace , the two philandering husband and wife of the protagonists. So, your wife too.

Though I'm not watching "Halik" when you hate the antagonist that's means that the actor/actress are doing a great job acting. I used to get affected then but right now i don't have time anymore to watch a soap.

Yes, the antagonist is really so effective as the antagonist. Sometime, some actresses playing the antagonist can really make you so angry at them. But I like the story of the show.

Thankfully I do not watch any soaps on TV. I used to get addicted with this type shows on my vacation where all are busy on watching these at our village. But on getting back to this place, I don't have time to spare for those shows and moved away from that habit. Honestly, too much ugly stories they are creating for making money.

Here, the soaps are something where you really can get affected. The actors and actresses are so goo at their acting. Although, some of them has plot that is so predictive.

I think the more appropriate term is 'engaging'. Sometimes, stories are good or bad. But they drew attention to it if the audience gets intrigued by their work.

Does your wife watch it? Maybe you should try watching it too, so you can be one of the funny post in FB where the man watching the TV is already so angry at Jade, he wants to hit him on TV with the Red Horse he is drinking.

As a single person, I am affected by this show even though I am very shy around the relationship. I guess it is more on what is gonna happen next. Even though the material of the drama is really a trope, it is a topic that really affects people. I usually watch highlights because some scenes are way too corny for me. Personally, I am amazed that the show has some clever twists even though some of them are still tropey. I guess watching people deal with relationships and all that jazz is still a relatable thing to people. They added a new character. I swear they keep hooking me in. Kudos to the writers and the actors for pulling this every night.

This maybe a trope, but people are hooked with it. I wasn't actually a watcher of this, until my officemates were saying "Oh, they will be caught". That ticked my interest, thus that very night I watched it and now I am hooked. Most people can relate because having an other woman is something most wives can relate to or wouldn't want it to happen to their relationships.

@jeanneyvonne Single women likes it too, so they will know what to do, when they are already married and their husbands seem to be doing this also.

@SIMPLYD Yeah. some people might not realize but maybe it's still a trope that works. And I don't blame people for being excited and tuning in for what will happen next. Sometimes, I just watch this show or catch some highlights on youtube. As a woman, I definitely can relate but hopefully, doesn't happen in real life/my relationship. .

@freelancermariagrace Yes, I watched that too. So intense indeed too! But that one is milder when it comes to the kissing scene of Yam and Sam Milby. And have you watched also that one where Derek Ramsey if the husband of Kristine Reyes and Anne Curtis likes Derek also. That one was also intense.

I don't watch our local tv shows because I see a lot of loopholes and faults so I get annoyed by them. But I love watching shows like Grey's Anatomy, Suits, How to Get Away with Murder, and other American shows mostly by Shonda Rhimes as I find them intellectually made. But I have never experienced anything similar to you that I wasn't able to sleep. However, I get affected in a way that I could feel the characters' pain and anguish. So I normally cry and laugh while watching them.

@SIMPLYD I really dislike watching Filipino soaps because I feel that they make the audience stupid. The researches and the writer should do their best in making the stories because really it's annoying to see that they seem to underestimate the viewers.
