First and Last Time for Me!!

Have you ever been so full of stress and anxiety that you just want to walk out and leave everything there??? This was me at the Black Friday sale on Thanksgiving evening. My daughter talked me into going as I had never been to that "event" before. I mean, how bad could it be in a a small town right?
OMG, those people are CRAZY!! The store only had main aisles open so you couldn't go down side aisles. Hundreds of people in the same aisles and guess where we were going? NO WHERE! Thats right, the line wasn't moving because everyone was stuck. It was a nightmare, I will probably be dreaming about this for years to come.
Needless to say, the deals weren't any better than if I shopped at home for the same items. Like I said, First and Last time going to a Black Friday Nightmare.
Have you been to one of these sales before, how was your experience?

We don't get involved in any of that, but a friend said they had to have guards at the mall he visited to keep people in check! Wow.

@Hannihar I am fine, thank you Hanni, just have been shopping online now but it sucks because as you know the mail service sucks here. I have had 3 packages lost in the mail so far with yours being one of them. Funny thing is the last time any of them were seen was when they got to New York! Hmmm, wonder where they are going from there.

I agree. When I am on my scooter and there are so many people on the sidewalk I go in the street and there are people too that have to go in the street also so I have to go around them. I do not like crowds and prefer to stay away from them if I can. I hope you are ok.

@Dyvette16 Crazy!! The stores make it worse by the way they position the sale items and then block all aisles so you have no where to go. I don't think it would be that bad if they gave you options of getting out of the sale rows

My mom-in-law and sis-in-law like doing it, but it's just not my thing. My mother-in-law invited me several years ago, but I chose not to go. I don't really like spending a lot of time shopping anyway. So, to do it in really crowded places isn't for me.

Smart, I never wanted to go either but thought I would since it was just my daughter and I. She used to go every year with all her friends in Denver and now she has just me to go with her. She found a moms group here though and next year they are all going together coz I won't be there!! lol works for me.

@dodo19 Me too, I was so happy when she told me her plan next year. They are all going together, making lists of what all of them want. Then they will position themselves by the items and a number of how many each wants, when they get them, they will meet in a certain spot and divide everything to whom it goes to, then they will shop around to see if there is anything else they need. Did that make sense?

I do not like crowds and refuse to shop at those so-called sales. Several years ago, when our son was home on college break, we decided to go out to lunch the day after Thanksgiving. The traffic was so horrendous with everyone out shopping, that we were stuck on one block for 30 minutes. We finally turned the car around and went to a different restaurant. Never again!

Ah yes I know that feeling, unfortunately.
I have only done the whole "Black Friday" shop first thing in the AM, once. It was a couple of years back and I wanted a tablet - normally $50, on sale for $25 at a "Family Dollar" location.
I got there at opening... and.... no line. No one else. It was amazing. The only thing I can figure is that in this larger city - everyone else was door busting at larger big box stores.
I don't blame you though. Big crazy lines with people. No thanks.

@cintol LOl, thanks! I was fully expecting people pushing, shoving, lines wait at the door, etc. I was happy it wasn't that

Yes, they don't bother me too much. Sometimes the lines get absurd though.

No , it has not caught up in small towns of India and am thankful.
We have crowded shops before the onset of any festivals....I like to do my shopping well before
