I identify as a mermaid!

Looks like the floodgates are starting to open! I just read a news story about a man named Emile Ratelband who feels like he is 20 years younger than he is. He says that when he tells women his true age (69) they want no part of him. Since he feels young and, as he says, "like a god", he tried to convince the courts that his age should legally be changed to 49. “I feel young, I am in great shape and I want this to be legally recognized because I feel abused, aggrieved and discriminated against because of my age.” - Ratelband The courts disagreed with Mr. Ratelband and said it would basically cause too much trouble with documentation to change his age and that it would cause negative future legal "implications". Playing devil's advocate, in a world where if one feels they were born the wrong gender they can change their birth certificates and surgically alter their bodies, why shouldn't a person be allowed to change their age if they identify as a younger person? Or older, for that matter? I'm of the opinion that we should accept who we are and who God created us to be. Still, I can't help but laugh as more and more people claim to "identify" as a rich person when they're poor, a tall person if they're short, and a young person if they're old. The list can go on and on...when will the madness stop? https://www.yahoo.com/news/dutch-court-rules-69-old-171623175.html#mycomments As an aside, here's a funny video of a 5'9" white man trying to convince random strangers that he is a 6'5" Chinese woman. In it, he asks what people would think if he said he was seven years old...and should he be allowed to attend first grade if he were to believe that he was a child: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=xfO1veFs6Ho Does it seem a double standard to allow us to legally change some aspects of our lives and not others?

What he asked is ridiculous, no matter how "he feels young", he is "NOT young", he only has to lie when women ask their age... unless they discover later his real age.

He certainly is trying to see how slippery the slope is in relation to what we claim we want to be, and what we actually are!

I have one word for this situation: stupid. The world has completely turned upside down. On the other hand, I am tempted to identify as a 34 year old babe. Too bad I can't pull it off.

I agree with you, if God wants us to be a different age we would be another age.

I read the story and just laughed! I am 82 and love it! And I don't feel "abused, aggrieved and discriminated against because of my age.” -

I'm reminded of Job 12:12, which says, "Wisdom is with the aged, and understanding in length of days." I don't see growing older as a bad thing.

@genipher I identify as having a most melodic voice yet I can’t get a £1,000,000 recording deal. It’s just not fair, especially when you think that they allow Donald Trump to identify as a respected world leader.

Ah, I've often wished I could carry a tune. I used to dream of singing my kids to sleep but, alas, it was not meant to be!

Is that guy for real? IFFF he changed his age, when he reaches 89 I doubt he'll look like 69 but maybe I'm wrong.

That's true. He would look super old. And when he hit 89, would he legally change his age again? I wonder how many times that stunt could be pulled?
