Cupcakes or Cake?

We are planning a wedding for next year. One of the things that is interesting, is my daughter is a huge fan of cupcakes (but not really of cake) however, one of my sisters (kidding) said she wouldn't come to the wedding if there wasn't a cake.
That got me thinking, when did cupcakes become part of weddings? Every wedding I went to years ago, always had an ornate wedding cake.
Now it seems the weddings I go to, all have cupcakes.
What does the mylot world thinK? Is my sister old fashioned wanting to have a cake?

I don't think so, its just your sister's personal preference I guess, for a cake. Anyway, cakes is the usual or sort of 'norm' in weddings, its just now a days that people are more creative and experimenting; trying something different such as cupcakes. And I think its ok Whatever the couple decides on
If you can have both why not hehehe

Cupcakes can be a good choice but a nice wedding cake is something to really remember the event by.
Have seen a few programs about how they design cakes now both from England and the U.S. and they were spectacular too.
Good luck with all of it.
