I love a mystery. Growing up I couldn't get enough of them. My favorite book were the series of "Trixie Beldon" and "Nancy Drew". I even read "Hardy Boy" mysteries. There was nothing like a good mystery to peak my interest in reading. Following the clues and solving the mystery was my favorite pastime. I couldn't wait to turn the pages. Now as an adult, I still love mysteries but my tastes have grown to include such authors as Stephen King, Dean Koontz, and Agatha Christie, just to name a few. I lose myself in this type of book. Are you a mystery/suspense lovers? Who are among your favorites?

I have always been a mystery/suspense lover. I have read almost all the agatha Christie, nothing to do with Stephen King that has surely a sense of macabre.

My favorite series was Trixie Beldon. My mother got me started on it as a Christmas present one year. I read many of them, but not all. I didn't get into the others. I do like a good mystery. I've written a couple as well.

I think when you are a writer you generally are drawn to write the type of book you read.

@HazySue Yes, you are, which is why I have such a hard time writing romance. The though gags me. Though I am trying to do just that. I have one romance on my whiteboard - Love's Illusion. I've had a lot of trouble writing it. I can't fit my writing inside the romance mold. It keeps overflowing the mold. So, when I get this one finished, it will definitely be outside the box of a normal romance.

@just4him Good, maybe you will start a new type of romantic novel trend. I feel that way about sci-fi. I just can't get into it. How come you are writing a romance novel if you don't like them? Love the title by the way.

They both had a short series on TV. I think the Hardy Boys series lasted a little longer than Nancy Drew.

I used to devour loads of mystery/suspense/thriller books. Just like you, I started with Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys. For some years I was obsessed with Robin Cook's novels (medical thrillers), and then I moved on to historical mystery (Iain Pears and the like). These days I no longer read mystery novels, but I've recently purchased a secondhand book that has bits of mystery elements in it. I haven't started reading it.

I used to love mysteries, all of those were my favorites too, but somewhere along the way of teenage and adulthood i gave up mystery for romance.. and as i grew older switched to more practical stuff and spiritual stuff.
