Rock Painting

I was a little depressed this morning and didn't know what to do, except I didn't want to be here, at home in my apartment. I messaged my friend who takes my pictures and is in Writer's Guild with me to find out what she was doing. She told me she was in a rock painting class. I said, "You need a class for rock painting?" She said come on down. She was at the ADRC - Aging, and Disability Resource Center. So, I closed everything down and went, and as you can see, I painted two rocks. I'm giving them to my kids for Christmas. Another thing that was depressing me because I didn't have anything for the kids for Christmas this year. Now, I do. I'll be going back next week and paint two more rocks, maybe three. I have three children and two grandchildren that live in the area. No one else lives close.
I never considered rock painting before, but now I know it can be a lot of fun and I might do it more often. If I know my friend, she'll insist on my doing it more often.
I also had her take a few more pictures because I wasn't happy with the ones for the back of the book. I am now. I'll put those pictures on another post.
How is your day going? I'm going to get notifications done and get to my book. I will get at least one chapter finished, but I don't expect to get two as both are long chapters. We'll see what happens.
That's it for now. Thanks for reading.

Those rocks look really good, I would keep doing that myself. I painted rocks when I was a kid and sold them for 5 cents lol. Have fun writing your book.

rock-painting sure did something good with the depression you have had yesterday. those rocks are beautiful, good as paperweights.

@just4him yes indeed. when on the table as paperweights, they can easily be recognized as one of your handwork.

@Courtlynn I've heard of those accounts. I think I might have tried it one year. I couldn't put a lot into it. I hope it works out for you.

@just4him thank you.
I think it will be. Least a little bit. As im thinking of opening a bank account at a certain bank that has a christmas thing, where you put money in all year until end of September and then they send you a check for the amount in it beginning of october for christmas shopping. As my regular bank would be easy to get the money out. And this you cant touch til you get the check.

I was at a loss for something to do one day here at the lake, so I collected a huge bunch of oval rocks and cleaned them then painted them to look like lady bugs. Mom and I then went around the neighborhood and put them at various people's cabins. (They were all in town at work...it was just after I had moved back in with Mom back in 1983) The rocks were a hit. One of the neighbors that I gave one of the bigger rocks to came in late one night, saw the rock there on his front stoop and grabbed a broom and started beating on it...he thought it was a critter and he was going to chase it off his front stoop. His wife finally turned on the front porch light and they discovered that it was just a rock...made for a lot of laughs all around.
Now, with making the teddy bears I always have something ahead of me to do. I don't get bored with it either because each bear turns out a bit different. That's how come I've been able to make them for 34 years and love every minute of it.
I hope you do more rock painting, you'll find that you might even have a market for your work. Yes! People actually pay money for painted rocks. If your friend calls for you to go again don't hesitate, do it! You do have talent.

I can picture that funny scene. Making teddy bears sounds like fun. I'll do it again, but I'm a writer, not a painter.

@BearArtistLady I'm okay with animals, not people, so I'm happy the one turned out well.

These rocks that you painted look amazing. I am very keen on them. I think you painted them very carefully. Art is a relaxing thing to do that I am glad made you feel better. I took my son to a hospital appointment in Bristol. We took the train there and back.

Nice rocks. Yesterday was ok. Alot of the snow is melting and falling off the roof scaring me and Lily. Today I tried to move the awning, but I can't. I'm going to see if my mother will get it moved.

i'm sorry you were feeling a little blue this morning
i used to love to paint rocks. for a short time it was really popular here. there is a park across the street from my house and people would always paint rocks and hide them for kids to find. there was a facebook page for all the rocks that you found or ones you planned on hiding, people really got into it!
your rock paintings are very cute btw :)

In my area there is a Facebook page (mainly aimed at kids) which involves painting rocks just like those your friend painted and hiding them in local parks, playgrounds, etc., for other kids to find. It's a great way to get kids involved in community stuff like this and is an excellent excuse to get them out and about searching for rocks instead of vegetating in front of a computer.

I am sorry you were having a bad day, I really know how that goes. It seems creativity is a very good remedy for many things. Think I wil go create for a while myself.

Where I live in the UK there is a wonderful activity where people paint rocks and then hide them around public parks so that children can go out and collect them or even re-hide them. It encourages kids to get out in the fresh air rather than sitting indoors on their video games.
