Happy Day So Far Away

Yesterday was my husband’s birthday and being so far from family, I had hoped it would be special for him. And it was!
He heard from the kids and grandkids, spent time with his childhood friend who now lives in Florida, and received texts, phone calls, and gifts from everyone he knows.
The icing on the proverbial cake was our dinner. He was greeted by the manager and hostess with birthday wishes. The table was by a window and sprinkled with birthday glitter. The waiter was solicitous and personable, the food perfection, and the manager walked across the restaurant to visit with just us. A gratis dessert of birthday cake with whipped cream and a candle, along with a bowl of ice cream, were presented by the restaurant.
I was so happy for my sweet husband that his day was special and happy, especially being so far away from friends and family.
How do you celebrate your birthday?

Happy Birthday to your hubby!! I'm glad that he had such a wonderful day and got so many good wishes from family and friends.
My birthday is Christmas day so we do plenty of celebrating. It's always fun since the whole family is together.

Some restaurants do go out of their way to make the day even more special. Glad you had a nice time.

Glad for him that he had such a wonderful day. You both look great in the picture.
My birthday is usually much more low key. My wife might bake a lasagna and, if I'm lucky, a cake. I cannot remember the last time we went out on my birthday.

Dianne I am so happy that your husband had a great Happy Birthday. I have met people who say that they don't care about all the ovation or attention on their Birthdays they don't even celebrate it, however I think it is important to celebrate such a day. I am happy that your husband was greeted by many people not only the restaurant's manager but also his loved ones. I celebrate Birthday in a very humble way, just my family a delicious Birthday cake and I.

Thank you! We have always celebrated our birthdays with family in restaurants and then with yummy birthday cakes. Being so far from our family, it’s become a tradition to celebrate my hubby’s birthday this way. Our son and the grandkids sang him happy birthday from Aruba. It was the highlight of his day. lol

@DianneN I love that. Well, so happy to hear it all went fine. Now off to rest, sometimes celebrating can be a little tiring, or it's just me? :)

I am so happy that he had a beautiful birthday. I celebrate the same way, we go out in a nice restaurant, that is not far from home. We have "our table" there and the restaurant always offers the dessert with candles and glitters and a liquor.

Happy belated Birthday to your husband. Sounds like he was treated like a king.
I don`t celebrate much, I usually get a few phone calls and that is it.

Well, happy belated birthday to your husband and so glad he enjoyed it! My birthday was a quiet one. I just got my favorite foods and ate at home. Next year I'm turning 65, more benefits one is bus pass is for the year only $35!!! Sad but when you get older people start passing away on you, so now I'm alone...even my neighbors are passing away on me. Sorry to add a sad note.

Thanks. At some stores like today Thurs. at Foodland Supermarket weekly on Thurs. we have Senior Discount day. Tues. is Ross Dept. Store and a local supermarket Don Quiote. McDonald's has Senior drinks and coffee too. We get a magazine called Generation that gathers Senior perks that comes out bi-monthly that I read to get the latest on Senior perks. AARP has a lot of discounts too.
