Was It A Happy Talk ?

The other night , I called the customer service representative of my mobile data provider. I asked how much is the remaining accumulated unused mobile data I have until that night, since the next day will be a new cycle again of my phone plan? This is for me to be able to set the mobile limit I have to set on my data usage. She told me how much more I now have and told me things about my mobile data. She also told me how to be able to do it through self- service. I told her I was jotting it down so I won’t forget how it is done as she had instructed. I told her “ good thing, I called you, because I don’t know about these things since I am not techie.” To this, she joked,” I was waiting for you ma’am indeed because I know you would call.” We both laughed out loud and she told me “how I wish mam, all who will call will be as jolly as you are”. To this I said, “How I also wish all customer service reps will be as jolly as you are”. And we both laughed out loud. Did you ever call over the phone to inquire about something ? Was it a happy talk? Note: Picture is from google

Vince deals with all calls like this but invariably it ends in laughter and thanks on both sides. I don't know how he does it.

Maybe it's because he is a natural joker. That is why he can lead it to a happy talk.

@SIMPLYD He seems to be able to get what he wants but also keep the other person more or less happy at the same time. It is a very useful skill.

@sunrisefan it was explained to me that the remaining balance of the data usage will be added to your new data foe the nezt month. However on the third month those will be forfeited if yoh weren't able to used them all. You will only have the allotted data ob your mobile on the third month. Actually, i know my dtaa usage and how much more for the month remains. What I wouldnlike to know is the accumulated unused data for the previous month and the recent month cyle. Thus, now i understand.

@SIMPLYD Mine is Smart and I have MySmart app in my phone where I can see my data used and outstanding. For my Globe landline (and I think this is also applicable for mobile) I have the Globe At Home app where I can also tract my data usage and balance. Try downloading the app and register your phone or account number there and you'll be able to tract your account.

I was actually happy, that she joked first. It lightened my mood and returned the joke. Sometimes, we should know how to make good jokes to lighten a situation. I know too, that I have lightened her work, since some customers could really be rude when talking to customer representatives over the phone.,

@SIMPLYD We can't change others. If some one rude, it is their problem. Why we upset our mood for them. No need to quite our good habit for others bad habit.

I also tend to call the PLDT's customer service if my Internet is too slow. As much as possible, I make it a happy talk. Why? If we tend to be irate to them, they will not fix our problem.

i had 3 worse experiences with customer service representatives of Globe telecommunications company. worse because i raised my voice to them; they seemed not to listen to me and still preferred to believe in what they believe in. so when i was sent a survey about how i interacted with them, i gave them a 1.

I think that is a natural reaction for a person whose belief in the transaction is opppsite to what the customer service rep believes. I surely will get angry too.

I think "we" set the tone of how customer service reps talk to us. If we are happy and easy going, it's possible they will react to us in the same manner. If we are angry and defensive, they might not be so kind either. Happy talks are good - I always try to get on the person's better side so the conversation is at least pleasant. I have had to make phone calls recently to various medical offices on behalf of my parents . . . straightforward is fine with me, but it's particularly nice when you can be jolly with the other person.

@SIMPLYD That is true. However sometimes the customer service rep has no better personality than a door knob - they are just no fun no matter what you say .

What i heard as complaint of those in call centers is that some customers are really rude. As if they treat the customer rep as slaves.

It happened to me, I had to call our Internet provider for a small problem. A nice guy replied, he asked me from which region in Switzerland I was calling, we started to talk about the food, the weather, the nice places we have here around to visit... I almost forgot why I had called him.

Actually, i always get those calls of offer for another line. The moment i heard them say that they are from Globe and that i am a very good customer, i would abruptly say "sorry i have to cut you short, but i don't want another line anymore". Same with credit cards. They would politely say thank you for sharing my time.
