Thankfully in India we can wish anyone merry Christmas without offending them. Even if they are not Christian they still take it as a warm wish for a happy season.
We rarely use the term happy holidays when we wish.
In many countries people get offended if you use the word christmas.
What phrase do you use when you wish people for Christmas?

'Happy Holidays' work if you're lumping a bunch of them together like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year.
I have always said "Merry Christmas'. (And that was long before American Celebrity President put his stamp of approval on it. and claimed credit.)

I think it's silly that people get offended by the word "Christmas" when it's uttered. I wish all I know personally a very Merry Christmas, and if I'm not sure I say "Happy Holidays!"
