Finally Bought A Drum Pad

I finally broke down and bought myself a drum pad. I have been wanting one for years, but never wanted to shell out the money for them.
But I was able to find one on Amazon for about $130, which is not bad. I make good money, I LOVE recording music, and even writing my own music and selling it (For example, my Pink Flamingoes album which available for purchase or streaming on places like Amazon, Spotify, and iTunes), and really when you get down to it...
You only live once, I have always saved my money and have amassed enough wealth I SHOULD be able to enjoy something, and what is it all worth if I DENY myself something I want?
I have always used software programs to write drum tracks for my covers and original music. But I have ALWAYS wanted to just play my own drums. Not a great drummer, but I know the basics enough that I can figure it out.
Maybe once I get the set I will record something and share it here.
I am happy I finally took the plunge. I got to use $15 in gift certificates I earned using Bing, so it was a bit of a discount.
I think I will have a lot of fun with this, and frankly I think I deserve it. I can even say some of the money I get to earn here helps to offset any immediate damages to the finances.
Who knows? Maybe with a drum set I can bang on to make a very unique drum part to a new song I will write can be released on iTunes and other places and also help to pay for the darn thing.
Probably not on the latter. But one can dream I suppose.

I have spent so many years WRITING drum sequences into a program. I have always wanted to simply bang on something. Writing drum sequences is much more difficult than actually playing drums, so having the basics of music since I play guitar and write drums in programs...I think I should have a lot of fun with this.

See I don`t understand people, save and save and save, then die, not enjoying a damn dime of it. After they die the wife remarries and the new husband spends it all, just blows it.
Save and spend on something you want, especially something that may make you money in the future.

More and more I am coming to this conclusion. I am NOT bragging, but I have so much money in the bank from YEARS of saving...I can't spend it all. There is no point, I am seeing now, to NOT enjoying at least SOME OF IT. I have had health issues, I am getting older, and I know I can't take it with me. Yet still, even with this purchase, I took weeks to finally decide I really wanted it.

@porwest To slow for us, just saying. Been there and tried it. Then I am stuck with clutter.

@sharon6345 Many times I have thought about thrifting and reselling on a site like eBay. But I am not sure if it is actually lucrative. I know some people are successful at it. But not sure how successful I might be at it.

I think I will have a blast with it. I think my wife will even enjoy it. She has wanted to learn guitar for years and I have tried to teach her, even handing her my base since it is much simpler to play...but she has trouble with all of it. Banging on a drum set might be right up her alley.

You and I were thinking along the same lines...sort of.
I just purchased a Yamaha E463 Keyboard. I bought it at a local music store for $400. Just the kind of christmas toy I wanted!

@Starmaiden Instruments, and music in general, is just a huge attraction for many people. I can play a very little bit of piano, but I doubt I could do a whole song.

@porwest I've been hooked on the piano/keyboard since childhood. My mother had an antique pipe organ and couldn't keep me away from it. I also play some guitar.

There MIGHT be. Not sure. I sort of know my way around the drums since I have written drum sequences for years in software programs. I tend to be SOMEWHAT musically inclined, so I don't see a huge problem. I hear drums in my head, which has been essential when writing drum sequences especially for my original music.

I remember using a drum pad when I was younger. Now I have a drum set.

I am always writing my own music, IF you want to call it music. But yes. And I do a LOT of covers too.

@havagu92 I just have fun with it. My songs don't necessarily have a structure. I just do something that is fun and share it, but I will never say I am great at guitar, great at songwriting, or great at singing. But there are enough people who do enjoy it that it makes it worth my time to do it...even if my only aim is not to make money at it, but just to have fun with it.
