Do you practise yoga daily? Do you know it can significantly reduce blood pressure?

We all know about the health benefits of yoga, which has its origins in India. Now modern reserach shows that yoga may help in significant reduction of blood pressure in those suffering from border-line high blood pressure, also known as pre-hypertensives. Do you practise yoga? which are your favourite poses ( known as 'asana')?

Hello! No, I don't practice yoga so I don't have a favorite pose. I like to do other fantastic exercises to help shape my perfectly imperfect body. Nonetheless, it is good to know that yoga helps with high blood pressure. Thanks for sharing the information about yoga. Have a great day.

@fransmonlot Could you please share more information about your exercise regime. It would be quite beneficial to me. I could integrate it with yoga.

@amirev777 Hello! Sure I would love to. I do a lot of walking. Walking is not only good to help you to maintain your weight but it is also a good stress reliever. Since you like yoga the plank maybe up your speed as it helps you to keep your belly down. Additionally, I do regular arm exercises and sit-ups. I believe in voluntary and involuntary form of exercise. I hope that helps, and you're able to integrate it with your yoga. :)

@fransmonlot Thanks. Even I do lots of walking. My target is usually one and half to two hours a day, depending on how much free time I have on hands. i also try to to do weight training and resistance exercise like push-ups at least 3 times a week, besides 4-5 times a week of yoga and pranayama. Because of my work load, I am not able to exercise daily, but I make it a point that I do walking everyday without fail.

No, I don't practice. I have stopped all exercises due to heavy cold weather. I agree yoga can help positively. But one has problems with High BP and other complaints should follow an expert's advise strictly.

@Sreekala Yes, yoga is not meant to replace medicine one is taking for high blood pressure. It only complements the medicines.

@Sreekala Yes, you are right. You should learn yoga only from a yoga expert. There are so many camps which are conducted in various cities where you can learn yoga for free.

@responsiveme Even it is not possible for me to do yoga daily, but I try my best to do at least 10 Suryanamaskaar, Bhujangasana, sarvangasana and Pranayama atleast 3-4 days in a week. Besides I do lots of walking - at least one and half to two hours and try weight training at least 3 times in a week.

Never tried yoga, only some breathing exercises. Those helped, indeed. Maybe I'll try yoga in the future, but now I have no time for that .

@Kasjnak I think 5 minutes is all it takes. But you need to learn it from an expert.

@amirev777 no such thing here. There are some people that teach yoga, but they are no experts, I can tell you that . Maybe I'll try my own techniques .

Being a computer enthusiast & a meditation practitioner, I found an interesting similarity between the human body & computers. A computer's central processing unit (CPU) must be operated at its intended normal clock frequency operation for it to have a longer lifespan, although it can be calibrated to increase clock frequency to improve performance but is not advisable. For me, when a person is meditating, he/she is kind of calibrating his/her physical body to its normal operating level - breathing frequency, heartbeat frequency, metabolism, emotional stress level, etc., & that's just the tip of the iceberg because I just consider myself a beginner in meditation & I know that there is a lot more to it. So yeah I am glad to see a post like this =D
