Dying Little by Little

Never again will I walk in the afternoon or even in the morning after doing two loads of laundry, when there is no breeze and it’s hot and sunny out. The photo shows how still the water was. It was like this for the last two days. I was on my way home from my walk, wishing someone would carry me home. . I still had 30 minutes to go. I would have called my husband to pick me up, but he was out antiquing again and doing errands. My brother and his wife were at the gym. From now on, I will walk first thing or after dinner on still days. I thought I would die! Our nephew, my brother’s son, has been partying in Miami for the last two weeks. He begins a terrific new job on Wall Street in New York City next week. He’s visiting my brother now, so we will see him tonight! My brother invited us to dinner at his place. Now I feel invigorated!

I never walk in the afternoon during summer, it is too exhausting. The view is beautiful but it's surely a hot walk.

I left my house at 9:15 thinking it would still be cool enough. Next time, I will be home by 9:15! When there's a breeze, it's delightful. Not so today. Thank you. It's my favorite place to walk.

@DianneN During summer by 9:15 is usually hot. In winter I never go out before 10:30, but in summer I go out very early in the morning.

@LadyDuck It's winter here.. At home I meet my friends between 6:00 to 7:00. Sometimes later on weekends. It doesn't matter who gets there first, since the trails are in a winding circle. I just walk in the opposite direction until I find them or they me. The sun seems to rise around 6:30 here, and I won't go out unless it's up and light enough.

It's easiest starting out, but when I turned around and realized how far I had to go to get home in the sun, I really didn't know if I'd make it. Where's my husband when I need him?

What are some of those things? For me, swimming in glacial lakes may be on that list.

And to think that the very sea can get stormy. One should never venture in the sun unless it is early morning or late evening Glad you managed to reach home in one piece.

That's beautiful! Was it the heat that got to you? I'll trade. lol. There's a wind out today and it's pretty brisk. Wont' stop me from going to the $ store and the library, but those are only a couple of blocks away

Thank you! It's one of my most favorite places to walk down here. It was the hot sun that got to me and lack of a breeze. It was only 9:15 and 67 degrees when I left the condo. I almost brought a little jacket!!! Have a nice walk to the $ store and library.

@DianneN I have. We even went to Key West. But it was a rare cold snap (temps in the 60s), so we didn't do much swimming.

@Hate2Iron I can only imagine. I've only been to Canada three times. Twice it was in the summer, and once in April. We were in Toronto and they had the same heat wave we were having in Connecticut at that time.
